Job description

ASD is seeking a skilled and experienced System Administrator to join our growing IT team. This mid-level position offers the opportunity to contribute to the maintenance and optimization of our critical IT infrastructure. The ideal candidate possesses a strong understanding of system administration principles, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively Install, configure, and maintain servers, operating systems (Windows or Linux), applications, and hardware. Proactively monitor system performance and identify potential issues. Troubleshoot and resolve technical problems, escalating complex issues to senior staff when necessary. Implement and maintain system security measures, including firewalls, antivirus software, and intrusion detection systems. Perform regular system backups and recovery procedures. Manage user accounts, permissions, and access controls. Automate routine tasks using scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Bash, Python). Document system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps. Collaborate with other IT teams on projects and initiatives. Research and recommend new technologies and solutions to improve system performance and security. Contribute to the development and maintenance of IT documentation and knowledge base articles. The Systems Administrator must have: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience. 3-5 years of experience in system administration. Strong understanding of operating systems (Windows or Linux). In-depth knowledge of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN). Experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V). Experience with scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Bash, Python). Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Required Secret Clearance-must be active Security+ or Security X or CASP or Level II equivalent Information Assurance Technician Certification in compliance with DoW Directive 8140 Workforce Program Preferred Qualifications: Industry certifications such as MCSA, MCSE, RHCSA, or RHCE. FAQ's Position will require the candidate to be 100% onsite Work Schedule:  5 days a week 8 hr shifts Contract:  Work for Airforce AFNORTH A6 in support of ANG at site. Contract is up for rebid:  February 2027. Upon award will be 10 year contract Work Setting:  It will be a team, but onsite is 1 deep, the rest of the team is in Tyndall afb FL and JBLM in Washington state.  There are contractors on site that they will work with at GDIT within the same contract and mostly interact with. Interview Process: A phone/Teams video chat. A second round may be requested.
