Job description

Purpose & Overall Relevance for the Organization:

Provide operational guidance and technical support to the Distribution Team(s) for optimal and capable systemic performance expectations.  Also, collaborate with all other technical departments to assist in reporting, testing, and configuration associated with business requests and/or system upgrades and enhancements.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Collaborate with Distribution departments to drive operational and process efficiency gains through systemic solutions. 
  • Effectively use MS Office Suite, SCI, and SQL Developer to create and maintain reporting needed for role specific functions in conjunction with associated projects.
  • Collect and analyze data to support and/or make recommendations regarding process changes, test results, project progression, and system upgrades.
  • Translate distribution ambitions into tactical requirements and provide actionable insights and recommendations to achieve those targets.
  • Test WMS functionality related to process changes and system upgrades.
  • Maintain appropriate level of expertise in software applications and corresponding processes related to the distribution center, including, but not limited to, Manhattan, Beumer, Intelligrated, Put to Light, SAP, Aroma, SCI, Detego, MS Office Suite, and SQL Developer.
  • Train key WMS users to effectively utilize the system and enhance performance.
  • Collaborate with Ops Managers, Inventory Control, application support team, and local help desk in resolving system related issues.
  • Create process flows, SOPs (written and video), and presentations related to projects and process improvements/changes.
  • Make recommendation for the enhancement of the WMS to maintain the integrity of business expectations and performance standards.
  • Assist in training new users on WMS procedures where applicable
  • Maintain and develop best practices and SOPs for all relative job functions.

 

Key Relationships:

 

  • Distribution Operations, including Wave Planning, Productivity Planning, Routing, Inventory Control and DC Area Managers. 
  • Supply Chain Management: Order Fulfillment, Reporting and Analytics, Performance Management.
  • Global IT and Local IT.
  • Application Vendors and Global Logistics.
  • SAP technical support team.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Good working knowledge of multiple software applications used in distribution centers, including but not limited to: Manhattan, SAP, Intelligrated, Omni-hub, Accutech, Put to Light, SCI, SQL Developer, and Beumer utilizing desk top computers, laptops, handheld devices and material handling equipment.
  • Excellent understanding of advanced math equations, algorithms, and SQL statements.
  • Ability to perform work in a fast-paced setting, constantly adapting to a change-oriented environment.
  • Ability to analyze and troubleshoot WMS, SCI, SQL Developer issues and configuration.
  • Proficient in MS Office.
  • Ability to conduct WMS training, update documents/manuals and collaborate with all levels of management regarding WMS interfaces and uses.
  • The job requires extensive walking and standing on hard surfaces and/or continuous hours working at a desk with a PC.
  • Should have a minimum of 5 years of experience in a large box distribution center environment with pick pack operations, high sku count in a complex high speed automated and/or manual operation.  Relevant industry experience is a plus.
  • Ability and willingness to travel if needed for personal training and sharing of their knowledge with other operations within the organization

 

Requisite Education and Experience / Minimum Qualifications:

 

  • Four-year college or university degree.
  • Minimum of 3 years relevant work experience and/or training
  • Equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • Preferred 5 years of experience in a large box distribution center environment with pick pack operations, high sku count in a complex high speed automated and/or manual operation.   Relevant industry experience is a plus.
  • Project management experience a plus.
  • Fluent in English, both oral and written.
