Job description

Project Engineer Responsibilities include:

  • Creating customer quotations for low volume production and prototype work in Additive with various secondary operations.
  • Creating customer quotes for complex customer projects involving numerous manufacturing technologies stemming from Additive.
  • Managing projects for quoted work through design, production, inspection, and customer acceptance.
  • Working with Fathom Account Managers & customers to provide design for manufacturability (DFM) feedback to secure quoted opportunities.
  • Being a high-value technical product development resource to Fathom customers.
  • Interpreting customer drawings and requirements to develop necessary manufacturing process plans while identifying necessary technical resources to successfully complete those produce customer parts.
  • Conducting review of all customers technical requirements (quality, process, regulatory) and ensure quotes address all requirements. Transferring those requirements clearly to operational production staff upon customer order.


Project Engineer Requirements:

  • B.S in an engineering or manufacturing discipline or significant relevant experience.
  • Minimum 3 years in Additive manufacturing. Programming or design experience preferred.
  • General understanding of sheet metal, additive technology, and injection molding preferred.
  • Previous experience quoting nice to have
  • Engaged in a customer facing role with excellent customer skills.
  • Proficiency with parametric CAD software, preferably Solidworks and Materialise Magics
  • Proficiency in critical to quality and quality control documentation
  • Understanding of applicable additive technologies and general manufacturing processes to become a valued partner to our customers and the additive team.
  • Understanding of shop routings and ability to create them in company ERP system
  • Ability to manage complex projects and teach junior engineers project management skills.
  • Excellent customer verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Flexible schedule to oversee suppliers
