Job description

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Part Time Recreational Therapist to join our TEAM!

Schedule: 1p-7p Monday, Friday, Saturday (4th day will be your preference)

The Recreational Therapist is responsible for planning, directing and coordinating approved recreation programs for patients in treatment. The Recreational Therapist is responsible for conducting recreational therapy groups and documenting in accordance with treatment plan goals. This position will be responsible for coordinating and facilitating community-based activities for patients in PHP and IOP levels of care.

Core Job Duties:

  • Facilitate recreational therapy groups and document session notes within 24 hours in accordance with
    treatment plan goals.
  • Create evidenced based content of recreational therapy curriculum.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary team to ensure 100% group attendance and participation.
  • Observes, assesses and records patient participation and progress during recreational sessions,
  • Plans, organizes, and directs recreational activities to facilitate patient recovery and well-being which may include off-site outings.
  • Coordinates and facilitates activities committee meeting to ensure distribution of monthly activities calendar.
  • Ensure inventory of supplies are provided on-site.
  • Assists clinical team to develop a treatment plan to meet needs recreational needs of the patient.
  • Uses substance abuse and co-occurring therapeutic interventions and de-escalation techniques to assist patients with accomplishing all treatment plans goals and objectives and successfully complete
    treatment.

Other Required Tasks:

  •  Prepares and submit reports and charts to treatment team to reflect patient progress.
  • Uses information from medical records, staff and patients to assess patient capabilities and interests.
  • Counsel and encourage patients to develop leisure activities.
  • Evaluate effectiveness of services provided with the assistance of the Clinical Director.
  • Assists the clinical team with patient interventions when needed.
  • Maintains positive relationships with all staff.
  • Maintains healthy boundaries with patients and staff.
  • Asks for and accepts feedback from supervisors.
  • Provides a safe and therapeutic environment to all staff and patients.
  • Communicates significant patient developments to supervisor.
  • Participates in Quality Improvement activities and contribute to the success of the organization.
  • Pursues professional development through participation in education and training programs.
  • Contributes positively to the morale of other staff members.
  • Performs other tasks as assigned.

Requirements

Education/Experience/Credentials:

  • Minimum high school diploma is required. Postsecondary education is preferred.
  • Minimum of one (1) year experience preferred.
  • Good driving record that meets safety and company insurance standards.
  • National or State Certification in Recreation Therapy required.
  • CPR and Standard First Aid certification required.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Knowledge of the Principles and Practices of the discipline.
  • Adheres to the Association for Ambulatory.
  • Behavioral Healthcare Code of Ethics.
  • Knowledge of Joint Commission Standards.
  • Demonstrates Proficiency in Communication & Written skills.
