By sensing heat instead of visible light, Sylux enables reliable classification of vehicles, pedestrians, cyclists, animals, and other objects in challenging conditions. Its CDATโ„ข perception stack provides classification, distance estimation, action, and tracking in a unified platform that integrates with existing ADAS architectures. The system is designed for scalable deployment across all levels of autonomy and is aligned with global safety standards, including FMVSS 127 and UN ECE regulations. Sylux focuses on improving real-world safety while maintaining flexibility in system design for automotive partners.

Role Description The Controls Engineer role is a full-time, hybrid position initially based in Goleta, CA, (3-6 months) with eventual job location situated in Logansport, IN. This role involves designing, implementing, and optimizing control systems that integrate infrared perception technology into vehicle platforms and test environments. Day-to-day responsibilities include developing and tuning control algorithms, configuring motion control and robotics systems, and collaborating with electrical and software engineering teams to ensure seamless integration with ADAS architectures. The Controls Engineer will diagnose and troubleshoot system issues, support prototype builds and validation testing, and document designs, test results, and control strategies. The role also includes contributing to continuous improvement of control processes and supporting compliance with relevant automotive safety standards.

Qualifications

  • Strong foundation in Electrical Engineering and related disciplines, with the ability to design, analyze, and integrate control hardware and sensors.
  • Proficiency in Process Control and Motion Control, including development and tuning of control algorithms for dynamic systems.
  • Hands-on experience with Robotics and automation systems, including system integration and control of multi-axis platforms.
  • Advanced Troubleshooting skills for diagnosing and resolving control, electrical, and system-level issues in lab and field environments.
