A V2X job typically involves working on vehicle-to-everything (V2X) communication technologies, which enable vehicles to interact with other vehicles, infrastructure, pedestrians, and networks. Professionals in this field develop, test, and deploy V2X solutions to improve road safety, traffic efficiency, and autonomous driving capabilities. Roles can focus on areas such as software development, embedded systems, networking, cybersecurity, and regulatory compliance.

What are some common challenges faced in V2X roles, and how does the team typically collaborate to address them?

Professionals in V2X roles often encounter challenges such as ensuring interoperability between diverse vehicle systems, maintaining security of wireless communications, and keeping up with rapidly evolving standards. Daily work typically involves close cross-functional collaboration with software developers, hardware engineers, and automotive safety teams to address these issues. Team members frequently participate in code reviews, technical workshops, and system testing to identify and solve problems early in the development process. This collaborative approach helps to maintain high-quality, reliable V2X solutions and promotes innovation in connected vehicle technologies.

How much does V2X pay?

V2X engineers and specialists typically earn between $70,000 and $120,000 annually, depending on experience, location, and certifications. Entry-level positions may start around $60,000, while experienced professionals with advanced skills in telecommunications and automotive systems can earn higher salaries. Compensation also varies based on the complexity of projects and the employer's industry segment.

Is V2X a good Company to work for?

V2X is a technology-focused company specializing in vehicle-to-everything communication systems. Employees typically work in engineering, software development, and research roles, often requiring knowledge of wireless protocols and automotive standards. The company's work environment and benefits can vary, so researching specific reviews and job postings is recommended for detailed insights.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the V2X position, and why are they important?

To thrive in a V2X (Vehicle-to-Everything) role, you need a solid background in wireless communications, embedded systems, and automotive networking protocols, often supported by a degree in electrical engineering, computer science, or a related field. Experience with tools such as MATLAB, CANalyzer, network simulators, and industry certifications like ITS or SAE are highly valued. Strong problem-solving skills, collaboration, and effective communication are crucial soft skills for this position. These competencies are essential for ensuring seamless integration and reliable performance of connected vehicle technologies in multidisciplinary automotive environments.

How long does V2X take to hire?

The hiring process for V2X roles typically takes between two to six weeks, depending on the company's recruitment procedures and the complexity of the position. It often involves multiple interview stages, technical assessments, and background checks, especially for roles requiring specialized skills or certifications.

Is V2X a real Company?

V2X typically refers to vehicle-to-everything communication technology used in the automotive industry, not a specific company. As a job role, V2X involves working with connected vehicle systems, wireless communication protocols, and automotive safety standards. It is not a company but a field or specialization within transportation technology.

Job description

Overview
Working across the globe, V2X builds smart solutions designed to integrate physical and digital infrastructure from base to battlefield. We bring 120 years of successful mission support to improve security, streamline logistics, and enhance readiness. Aligned around a shared purpose, our $3.9B company and 16,000 people work alongside our clients, here and abroad, to tackle their most complex challenges with integrity, respect, responsibility, and professionalism.
V2X is looking for a Solutions Architect to lead the development of technical solutions, system architectures, and comprehensive technical proposal volumes to win competitive DoD pursuits. You'll serve as the bridge between capture strategy and engineering execution, ensuring our proposals stand out technically and align perfectly with customer requirements. The role involves synthesizing various DOD requirements, BAAs, RFIs, and other requests to develop a solution architecture that aligns business capabilities with V2X planned technology development efforts. This role drives both technical and business solution development to shape and respond to future RFIs and RFPs, requiring leadership over multi-discipline engineering teams and integration with all aspects of the V2X business.
Responsibilities
As our DoD-focused Solutions Architect, you'll turn customer needs into novel combat-ready capabilities by laying out the system architecture and shaping requirements that drive mission success across land, air, and sea. You'll shape technical strategies for RFIs/RFPs, and partner with customers and business leaders to build tomorrow's defense solutions.
What You'll Own:
  • Define and articulate technically discriminating solution architectures and high-impact win themes for major DoD acquisitions.
  • Develop and maintain system models (SysML/MBSE) to validate architectures and support Trade-Space analysis in capture scenarios.
  • Translate disparate DoD inputs (BAAs, RFIs, requirements docs) into cohesive, end-to-end system architectures that align technology roadmaps with V2X's development plans.
  • Lead technical solution development for competitive pursuits-craft architecture diagrams, interface specs, and technical standards, then champion them through proposal and design reviews.
  • Identify technical risks early, propose mitigation plans, and guide teams through tough trade-space decisions.
  • Author and integrate the Technical Volume, ensuring seamless alignment with Cost, Management, and Schedule sections.
  • Partner with Business Development and the Chief Engineer to align capture strategy, shape white papers, and influence pursuit decisions.
  • Engage directly with DoD acquisition and requirements officers to refine roadmaps, mature tactical system needs, and ensure our architectures meet real-world mission demands.
  • Collaborate with software, hardware, and integration engineers to drive system design, validate interoperability, and oversee verification & validation activities.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend components, tools, and frameworks that accelerate development and boost performance.
  • Build and nurture relationships with customers, teammates, and suppliers-uncover new opportunities and drive continuous innovation.

Ready to architect the next generation of mission systems? Join V2X and lead solutions that power our warfighters. Apply now and make your mark on national defense.
Qualifications
Required Skills:
  • Must be a US Citizen with ability to obtain a DoD Secret level clearance
  • 15+ years of systems, software, or hardware engineering experience, delivering complex solutions from concept through deployment
  • Proven track record partnering with DoD requirements officers and system owners to shape technical visions and refine mission needs
  • Deep understanding and application of Model Based Systems Engineering methods, tools and languages
  • Familiarity with DoD data interfaces, including MIL-STD-1553, ARINC, CAN, and other vehicle/weapon-specific protocols
  • Analytical mindset and inventive problem-solving skills, tackling complex technical challenges with confidence
  • Experience with DoD platforms, weapons, avionics, or tactical systems
  • Hands-on expertise with DoD platforms, weapons, avionics, or tactical systems across land, air, and sea domains
  • Extensive capture management experience: interpreting RFPs/SOWs, developing BOEs, authoring technical volumes, and driving high-value proposal efforts
  • Strong communication skills, adept at engaging stakeholders from technical teams to senior leadership and military customers
  • Demonstrated leadership guiding cross-functional teams through capture, proposal, and early program execution phases
  • Ability to lead integrated product teams (IPTs) across engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, and quality disciplines
  • Self-driven and accountable: consistently delivers high-quality work on schedule and autonomously solves complex challenges

Desired Skills:
  • Experience conducting competitive assessments, technical price-to-win analyses, and win-strategy development.
  • Demonstrated leadership of multi-discipline teams through capture, proposal, and early program execution phases.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communicator, translating complex technical concepts into compelling narratives
  • Prior work with DoD customers (US Army, US Navy, USMC, and/or USAF) on acquisition or sustainment programs
  • External Certification(s) as a Solution Architect and/or Technical Capture Lead (ex. The Open Group, Shipley, PMI)
  • Current Active DoD Secret or higher Clearance

Education Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related STEM discipline.
