  • Provide outpatient acupuncture services to Fred Hutch's oncology patient population.
  • Coordinate and implement patient care monitoring, assessment, referrals to other disciplines and patient/professional education.

This is a .7 (28 Hours) role working a variable schedule, Monday thru Friday, out of our South Lake Union Campus.
Responsibilities
  • Use evidence-based acupuncture techniques to treat oncology-related symptoms and treatment side effects using acupuncture needles and other tools.
  • Evaluate and document patient progress related to symptom management and services rendered.
  • Maintain written and verbal communications and care coordination within the interdisciplinary medical team regarding patients per department standards.
  • Meet regulatory and standard practice requirements (The Joint Commission, Department of Health, etc.).
  • Attend scheduled team meetings, case conferences, and patient care meetings as appropriate.
  • Provide guidance for implementing acupuncture-based research protocols.
  • Provide practice-specific education to professional and clinical staff, graduate students, and the lay public through training programs, lectures and seminars.
  • Assist as needed in the development of IM education materials.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications
Required:
  • Successful completion of an accredited acupuncture graduate degree program
  • Board Certified by the National Certification Board for Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine (NCBAHM) [formerly the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM)]
  • 3 years Clinical Oncology Acupuncture
  • Must be a licensed acupuncturist in the state of Washington or meet criteria to obtain Washington State license
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong aptitude and enthusiasm for establishing patient rapport, delivery of patient education and explaining acupuncture treatment services
  • Familiarity with Electronic Medical Record systems
  • Self-awareness and a professional demeanor
  • Takes initiative and uses independent judgment without detailed working procedures.
  • Ability to implement change in a positive, sensitive, and forward-thinking manner
  • Able to demonstrate flexibility in response to unexpected changes in work volumes or staffing needs.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team as the situation requires

Preferred:
  • Doctorate/ post-doctorate of Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine (DACM) from Accredited Institution
  • Formal training in Chinese herbal medicine
  • Training in research methods
  • Process improvement experience (lean leader, six-sigma, continuous performance improvement, etc.).
  • Ability to navigate organizational complexity within academic, research and/or multi-modal health systems

The hourly pay range for this position is from $42.65 to $63.97 and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.
This is a .7 (28 Hours) role working a variable schedule, Monday thru Friday, out of our South Lake Union Campus.
