To thrive as an Actuarial Science Intern, you need strong mathematical, statistical, and analytical skills, typically supported by coursework in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, or a related field. Familiarity with Excel, statistical software (like R or SAS), and basic programming languages, as well as progress toward actuarial exams, is often expected. Many internships also involve exposure to industry software and real-world business problems, giving you a practical understanding of actuarial practices. This hands-on experience is valuable for developing core technical competencies and gaining insight into the collaborative nature of actuarial teams.
