The Mealsite Manager position is multifaceted and involves food service, volunteer coordination, participant interactions, community service and following State and Federal Nutrition Program rules and regulations. An ideal candidate would be community oriented with good customer service skills. Someone who has experience working with the senior and/or disabled population, as well as being adaptive to change and a good multitasker.
Key Responsibilities
The following duties are most critical for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
  • Accept telephone meal reservations, cancelations and Home Delivered meal service referrals.
  • Oversee volunteers to assist with meal service.
  • Collect and deposit Nutrition Program participant donation revenue.
  • Compile and maintain accurate Nutrition Program record keeping. Submit record keeping in a timely manner.
  • Inform Nutrition Program participants (bulletin board postings, handouts, announcements, etc.) on current information and issues affecting older persons.
  • Arrange meal site programming (nutrition education, health, wellness, social, recreational, etc.)
  • Perform in-home assessments to determine Home Delivered meal service eligibility, if applicable.
  • Oversee and coordinate Home Delivered meal service operation (manage volunteers and Food Transporters).
  • Attend mandatory monthly Staff meetings.
  • Attend other trainings and/or meetings as required.
  • Report meal site conflicts and issues to the Nutrition Program Supervisor.
  • Advise Nutrition Program Supervisor on Nutrition Program policies and procedures.
  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance. Works extra hours as required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education/Certifications/Experience Requirements
  • Graduation from high school or GED with experience working with older persons and/or persons with disabilities, supervisory and food service experience; OR any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities for this position.
  • Serving Safe Food certification and renewal is a requirement.

Required or Preferred Skills
  • Passion and sensitivity to needs of older persons and persons with disabilities.
  • Ability to relate and communicate effectively with others, verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to work independently and make sound judgments.
  • Ability to perform duties in a dependable manner.

  • Ability to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects up to 20 lbs. Up to 10 times per shift, understanding and utilizing proper body mechanics.
