Job description

Full Time – Hourly, Non-Exempt

Job Overview

The OLC Teacher provides a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment with activities to help children achieve important milestones while having fun and learning, as well as communicating with parents about their child’s daily activities through ProCare, and following the classroom schedule, safety guidelines and parent schedule. This is a full-time position, 9 hours per day. Reports to the OLC Program Director. There is a possibility of advancement or schedule changes with this position.

Responsibilities + Duties:

  • Cares for children, including feedings lunches, snacks, and nap/rest time as scheduled by Coordinator and/or parent.
  • Is responsible for taking to the restroom and healthy habits such as hand washing, etc.
  • Keeps the designated spaces clean and sanitary for staff and children.
  • Ensures all OLC policies and guidelines are being followed.
  • Responsible for communicating to the Director as needed about events, sickness, incidents with children, etc.
  • Demonstrates a positive and friendly attitude with parents, staff, and children.
  • Prepares, oversees, and closes out their classroom each day as communicated by Director.
  • Makes sure children’s personal items are labeled and clean before using or sending home.
  • Provides children with challenging and engaging activities to build on previous knowledge and present them with new opportunities to grow while still fostering important developmental skills to make learning fun, as is age appropriate.
  • Implements and teaches the provided curriculum in an engaging way that helps students grow.
  • Provides tools, safety, and an environment of nutrition that children need to keep their active minds growing and learning.
  • Ensures every child receives the foundational tools needed for entering the next age group.
  • Tracks inventory and lets the Director know what items are needed for the upcoming week and monthly items for activities and curriculum.
  • Prepares in advance a weekly activity and curriculum as given by the Director.
  • Be consistent in attendance and consistent with the daily schedule.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • OLC Students.
  • In some cases, assistant teachers.

Qualifications

  • Highschool diploma or GED equivalent.
  • At least 1 year experience working with children.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds at a time.
  • CPR certified.
