Acting Program Manager information

What is an acting program manager?

Acting Program Managers are individuals who temporarily assume the responsibilities of a Program Manager, often during a vacancy or while the permanent manager is away. They oversee projects, coordinate teams, manage budgets, and ensure that program goals are met during their interim period. Acting Program Managers must quickly adapt to the role, maintain continuity, and make decisions to keep programs running smoothly. Their authority and duration in the role may vary depending on the organization's needs.

What are some common challenges faced by acting program managers when stepping into the role on a temporary basis?

Acting Program Managers often face challenges such as quickly gaining familiarity with ongoing projects, building trust with team members, and maintaining continuity during leadership transitions. They may also need to make important decisions with limited background information and manage expectations from both the team and upper management. Strong communication skills and adaptability are essential to ensure a smooth transition and continued progress toward program goals.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an acting program manager, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Acting Program Manager, you need strong leadership, project management, and organizational skills, often supported by a degree in business or a related field and relevant management experience. Familiarity with project management software (such as MS Project or Asana), budgeting tools, and reporting systems is typically required. Excellent communication, adaptability, and problem-solving abilities help you effectively motivate teams and manage change. These skills ensure seamless program execution and stakeholder satisfaction during transitional or interim leadership periods.

Job description

Who are we and why should you join us?

ConcertAI is building the future of precision medicine. We use advanced artificial intelligence and real-world data to transform how healthcare and life sciences generate evidence, make decisions, and improve patient outcomes—starting in oncology and rapidly expanding across therapeutic areas. Our teams partner with the world's leading pharmaceutical companies, providers, and research organizations to solve some of healthcare's most complex challenges.

At the core of our innovation is Cara, our next-generation AI platform that unlocks powerful insights from complex clinical, imaging, and molecular data. Combined with our Precision Suite—which unifies real-world data, advanced analytics, and scalable evidence generation—these solutions are transforming how clinical development, regulatory, and commercialization decisions are made.

ConcertAI brings together a portfolio of purpose-built solutions, including TeraRecon, an industry leader in advanced imaging and AI-driven visualization, and CancerLinQ, the ASCO-originated oncology platform advancing care quality and large-scale discovery.

Joining ConcertAI means working alongside bold thinkers, builders, and healthcare experts on innovative, high-impact products that directly improve patient lives. You'll be part of a fast-growing, mission-driven organization at the forefront of AI-enabled healthcare, with meaningful opportunities for growth and leadership.

Why your role is important
You will own the intake, triage, and prioritization of data certification requests across Commercial Solutions and RWE/Clinical Solutions. Sitting at the intersection of product, data operations, and data science, you will ensure every certification request is fully documented and production-ready before it enters the certification queue, and that certification work is sequenced against real client delivery commitments and internal production schedules. This role requires strong SQL fluency, HIPAA awareness, and the organizational discipline to manage a high volume of concurrent, cross-team requests with precision. This person will work directly with ConcertAI's internal statisticians, and will be critical to workflow management, process improvement and documentation (including current, future SOPs).

What you'll do

  • Serve as the single point of intake for all data certification requests submitted by Commercial Solutions and RWE/Clinical Solutions, ensuring every ticket is assigned and screened before entering the certification schedule
  • Confirm each certification ticket includes a current, time-stamped data dictionary (flat file), a structure comparison against the last certified version, and release notes documenting the changes and underlying logic
  • Identify and escalate to the correct product owner or product manager when required documentation is missing or incomplete
  • Prioritize certification requests based on urgency, distinguishing between client-committed delivery dates and internal schema dependencies tied to downstream pipeline production schedules
  • Maintain working knowledge of average certification timelines by dataset type to support realistic scheduling and stakeholder expectations
  • Partner with Operations to stay current on the production calendar and upcoming client deliverables that depend on certified data
  • Use SQL to independently validate that no unapproved structural changes exist between certified dataset versions
  • Manage and maintain certification workflows, ticket templates, and documentation in Jira and Confluence
  • Communicate certification status, blockers, and timelines clearly across Commercial Solutions, RWE/Clinical Solutions, and Operations stakeholders
  • Identify and drive process improvements to the certification intake and prioritization workflow over time

What you'll bring

  • Bachelor's degree required; technical, quantitative, or life sciences field preferred
  • 5+ years of experience in data operations, technical product management, or data governance/QA, ideally in healthcare, life sciences, or a regulated data environment
  • Proficient in SQL, with the ability to independently identify structural/schema changes between dataset versions
  • Working knowledge of HIPAA and healthcare data handling requirements
  • Experience with Jira and Confluence required
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with proven ability to manage a high volume of concurrent requests across multiple teams
  • Strong cross-functional communication skills; comfortable acting as the point of accountability between Commercial Solutions and RWE/Clinical Solutions
  • Familiarity with data dictionaries, schema documentation, and release/change management practices
  • Leveling based on experience and background
