Job description

Aspen Consulting Group (ACG) is seeking a full-time FPGA/SDR Engineer to work on-site in APG, Maryland. The successful candidate will be developing advanced Software Defined Radio (SDR) solutions. In this role, you will come up with solutions for complex mission-critical challenges by designing, developing, and testing FPGA-based capabilities. You will collaborate with a diverse team of engineers, contribute to innovative solutions, and grow your expertise in a supportive and dynamic environment. Our Research and Development (R&D) โ€œhacker-likeโ€ environment focuses on innovative approaches and thought processes as opposed to extensive design documentation, meetings, and formalized review processes. This is an opportunity to work hands-on with cutting-edge technologies and deliver impactful solutions for real-world applications. Minimum Required Qualifications:
โ€ข 3+ years of experience developing SDR solutions โ€ข Linux experience โ€ข VHDL programming experience โ€ข FPGA Toolchains (Vivado or Quartus) experience โ€ข Basic Git, SVN, or Mercurial experience for version control โ€ข Must be a U.S. citizen with an active DoD Secret Clearance (Top Secret/SCI Clearance preferred)
โ€ข Strong written and spoken communication skills with the ability to discuss complex topics in detail
โ€ข Ability to work on a team and collaborate with engineers and technicians to integrate hardware and software components Preferred Qualifications:
โ€ข BS or MS in Electrical, Computer Engineering or related Science, Engineering, Technology, Mathematics Field
โ€ข RF communications experience โ€ข Ability to work with RF test equipment: Spectrum Analyzer, RSA, Vector Waveform Generator โ€ข Beginner/Intermediate experience with C, Python
โ€ข Intermediate/Advanced experience in VHDL
โ€ข Experience with FPGA software debugging tools using JTAG (ChipScope or SignalTap) โ€ข Desire to pass the torch and mentor other team members (from junior to senior level) on your development accomplishments to grow the knowledge of the entire team Key Responsibilities: โ€ข Research: o Conduct research on signal processing techniques, communication protocols, and hardware design methodologies.
o Stay up to date with industry trends and advancements in FPGA and SDR technologies to inform design decisions and improve system performance. โ€ข Design: o Develop high-level architectures and create internal design documents to guide the engineering process and testing.
o Research and implement algorithms to meet system requirements, using appropriate tools and methodologies.
o Collaborate with team members to gather requirements and translate them into a working design.
โ€ข Development: o Write and optimize VHDL/Verilog code, leveraging internal libraries or creating custom components and finite state machines (FSMs).
o Develop software applications to support FPGA/SDR functionality, including configuration, control, and data processing.
o Ensure compliance with teamโ€™s coding standards and best practices.
โ€ข Simulation and Testing: o Debug, test, and optimize designs across various environments to ensure functionality and performance by simulating and deploying designs to hardware.
