Our client is a well-capitalized real estate developer operating across California. They're looking for an Accounting Manager to own day-to-day accounting operations and lead financial reporting efforts. This role works closely with cross-functional teams across the business. Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and coordinate quarterly and annual financial statements, including related schedules and disclosures
  • Ensure accounting practices align with U.S. GAAP standards, including ASC 606 (revenue recognition) and ASC 842 (lease accounting)
  • Act as a key liaison with external auditors and support the annual audit from start to finish
  • Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial analyses
  • Apply technical accounting knowledge across areas, including cost capitalization, asset impairments, and equity and debt transactions
  • Build and refine accounting policies, internal controls, and departmental procedures
  • Collaborate with other teams to identify financial risks and communicate findings clearly
  • Contribute to process improvement efforts, including automation and cost-efficiency initiatives
  • Support business development and transaction-related accounting needs
  • Conduct technical accounting research and assist with ad hoc projects as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 5 years of accounting or finance experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership or supervisory capacity
  • Solid working knowledge of U.S. GAAP
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Experience with accounting software systems

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in real estate or homebuilding
  • Active CPA license
  • MBA or other advanced degree
