As the Senior Accountant at tru fru, you will be responsible for the day-to-day accounting operations of a rapidly growing consumer brand. You will review and ensure the accuracy of general ledger functions including accounts payable and receivable, general ledger analysis, internal control environment, and project and expenditure monitoring. You will collaborate across internal and external teams to support tru fru's financial objectives while ensuring the quality and integrity of financial information across our systems, promoting innovation and continually improving operational and financial effectiveness in compliance with GAAP and company policy.
What you'll do
- Participate in the preparation of internal financial statements, including variance analysis, written commentary on significant fluctuations, and summaries of financial highlights for distribution to senior management.
- Prepare and record journal entries for balance sheet and P&L accounts, ensuring proper supporting documentation is obtained and acting as gatekeeper for company books and records.
- Lead the periodic review of all balance sheet accounts across the company, reporting significant findings to management and seeking to improve reconciliation and analysis processes, including through automation.
- Support period-end responsibilities including financial statement consolidation, reconciliations, and various analytics.
- Aid in the submission of business unit results to the parent company financial reporting system, including ownership of mapping and reconciliation across multiple systems.
- Assist in the design, documentation, and testing of internal controls to support compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements
- Participate in the preparation and collection of information required for internal and external audits.
- Prepare ad hoc analyses and provide general accounting support to the Finance and Accounting team as needed.
- Prepare white paper write-ups researching and justifying U.S. GAAP accounting treatment for complex transactions.
- Stay current on emerging accounting issues, proactively analyzing their impact on the company's financial position and supporting implementation of new accounting standards.

You have...
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting (Masters preferred), Business Administration, or Financial Management.
- 3+ years of experience in a Big Four environment, or 4-5 years in an accounting role.
- CPA or actively pursuing CPA licensure.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel and Word, with the ability to create efficiencies.
- Experience with financial accounting software and reporting tools.
- Strong analytical skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.

- Accounting experience in a consumer goods company.
