Job description

Accounting Assistant - Healthcare Finance 

FullTime 
Pay rate:  $20.00 per hour

Freedom Village is seeking a detailoriented Accounting Assistant with experience in healthcare billing and financial processes to support our accounting team. The ideal candidate is organized, dependable, and familiar with billing, payer systems, and financial documentation in a healthcare environment. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable, including healthcarerelated transactions and long-term care related transactions 
  • Support medical billing processes, including invoicing, payment posting, and adjustments 
  • Review and reconcile patient billing, insurance payments, and explanations of benefits (EOBs) 
  • Enter and maintain accurate financial and billing data in accounting and practice management systems 
  • Reconcile bank statements and selected general ledger accounts 
  • Assist with monthend close activities 
  • Prepare and organize invoices, patient billing records, and supporting documentation 
  • Support payroll preparation and employee expense reporting as needed 
  • Maintain organized electronic and physical financial records in compliance with healthcare regulations 
  • Respond to internal billing or accounting inquiries 
  • Perform other accounting and administrative duties as assigned 

Required Qualifications 

  • Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance, Healthcare Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience) 
  • Experience with healthcare billing, medical billing, or revenue cycle processes 
  • Basic understanding of accounting principles (GAAP knowledge preferred) 
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and confidentiality 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and accounting or billing software 
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • 1-2 years of accounting or bookkeeping experience in a healthcare setting 
  • Familiarity with insurance billing, Medicare/Medicaid, and thirdparty payers 
  • Experience with systems such as PointClickCare,C3Linc, Richter, or similar healthcare billing platforms 
  • Knowledge of HIPAA compliance related to financial and billing information 
  • Currently pursuing or planning to pursue a bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Healthcare Management
