Job description

Position Summary

The Accounting Manager will oversee daily accounting operations and ensure accurate, timely financial reporting in a fast-paced logistics environment. This role requires a hands-on leader with strong technical accounting skills, advanced Excel capabilities, and prior experience within the logistics or transportation industry. The ideal candidate thrives in operational settings, can lead and develop a team, and partners effectively with cross-functional stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger, month-end close, and financial reporting
  • Lead and mentor accounting staff, fostering accountability, development, and continuous improvement
  • Ensure accuracy and compliance with GAAP and internal accounting policies
  • Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
  • Analyze financial results and provide clear explanations of variances and trends
  • Leverage advanced Excel skills to build and maintain financial models, reconciliations, and reporting tools
  • Collaborate with operations and logistics teams to support cost tracking, margin analysis, and operational insights
  • Support audits, internal controls, and process improvement initiatives

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (BA or BS) in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • Prior accounting experience in the logistics, transportation, or supply chain industry
  • Strong Excel skills, including advanced formulas, pivot tables, lookups, and data analysis
  • Proven leadership experience, including managing and developing direct reports
