Position Summary

The Income Tax Analyst is responsible for supporting the Company's federal, state, and local income tax compliance processes for a complex pass-through structure consisting primarily of an S Corporation, Partnerships and Single member LLCs. This position works closely with the Income Tax Manager, internal business partners, and external tax advisors to ensure timely and accurate tax filings and compliance.

The Income Tax Analyst plays a critical role in preparing supporting work papers, gathering and validating tax data, coordinating information requests across departments, reviewing return deliverables, and maintaining tax records. This position provides an excellent opportunity to develop technical tax knowledge and gain exposure to a broad range of corporate and partnership tax matters.

Reports to: Income Tax Manager

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Income Tax Compliance Support

  • Prepare and maintain federal, state, and local income tax compliance work papers.
  • Gather and organize financial and operational data required for income tax estimated payments and return preparation.
  • Coordinate information requests with Accounting, Finance, Payroll, Treasury, Legal, Human Resources, and other business departments.
  • Assist in the preparation of tax information provided to external tax advisors.
  • Review tax return drafts for completeness, consistency, and accuracy.
  • Reconcile tax return information to financial records and supporting schedules.
  • Assist with the preparation and review of Schedule K-1 information.
  • Monitor filing deadlines and maintain compliance calendars.
  • Maintain electronic tax files and supporting documentation.
  • Prepare business licenses and gross receipt filings.

Tax Accounting Support

  • Assist with preparation of quarterly and annual income tax provision calculation.
  • Support the calculation and tracking of state tax apportionment data.
  • Prepare account reconciliations related to income taxes.
  • Assist with deferred tax analyses as assigned.
  • Support tax account maintenance and documentation.

Research and Analysis

  • Assist with tax research related to federal and state tax issues.
  • Analyze tax data and identify discrepancies requiring further investigation.
  • Prepare schedules and summaries to support tax planning initiatives and special projects.
  • Support implementation of tax process improvements and automation initiatives.

Audit and Notice Management

  • Assist with gathering documentation for federal and state tax audits.
  • Support responses to tax notices and information requests from taxing authorities.
  • Maintain audit and notice tracking logs.

Other Responsibilities

  • Participate in special projects and strategic initiatives within the Tax Department.
  • Assist in maintaining tax department procedures and process documentation.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts related to compliance processes and internal controls.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Taxation, Finance, or related field required.

Experience

  • 0-2 years of accounting, tax, or related experience.
  • Experience with pass-through entities, partnerships, or S corporations is a plus.

Technical Skills

  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial statements.
  • Basic knowledge of federal and state income tax concepts.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, lookups, and data analysis.
  • Experience with tax compliance software and ERP systems is a plus.
  • Ability to work with large datasets and multiple information sources.
