Job description

SUMMARY
The Accountant - General Ledger is responsible for creating and maintaining accurate and compliant financial documents. Under the direction of the Accounting Manager, they will be responsible for all aspects of the full-cycle month-end closing and preparing journal entries to post to the general ledger. The Accountant - General Ledger will ensure completeness and accuracy of GL statements and related accounting activities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Primary duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Prepare, make, and/or review journal entries pertaining to gaming and non-gaming operations into the general ledger system
Prepare, analyze, and distribute scheduled and ad-hoc financial reports related to gaming and non-gaming operations.
Collaborate with other members of the Finance department and with staff members of other departments to ensure efficiency and effectiveness of procedures related to financial data maintenance.
Assist with preparation of month-end financial statements, balance sheet account reconciliations, and audit work papers.
Attend and participate in meetings to be informed of new rules, regulations and procedures and to discuss scheduling and/or other concerns of the Hotel and/or department.
Any other duties as assigned within the scope of this position.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
Understanding of the accounting process and technical systems involved.
Determine alternative solutions to problems, evaluate courses of action and reach sound, non-judgmental management decisions.
Possess a strong attention to detail and engaging presentation skills.
Proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Power Point, Publisher, Outlook.
Expertise of Excel.
Ability of simple reading, writing, math, and complex task completion skills is required.
Must have the following skills: clerical, compiling, coordination, analyzing, instructing, following instructions, influencing others, problem solving, independent judgment, and decision making.
Flexible to work all shifts including holidays, nights, and weekend hours as business needs dictate.
Must be a minimum of 21 years of age.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field required.
Minimum 1 year of experience in casino accounting or any combination of education, training, or experience listed that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Exposure to General Ledger Accounting is preferred.

CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES
Must be able to maintain appropriate Gaming License.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the team member is constantly sitting and occasionally standing, walking, reaching overhead, and bending over during the duration of their shift.
Must be able to lift/carry 25lbs or less occasionally.
The team member will constantly have repetitive use of both hands and require occasional light grasping motions. Finger dexterity of both hands will be constantly required.
Constant use of vision abilities is required including distance, depth perception, field of vision, and color vision.
