Position Summary
ChemStation Connecticut is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Staff Accountant to join our growing team in South Windsor, CT. This position is ideal for an accounting professional with several years of experience who is ready to take on greater responsibility while continuing to develop their accounting and financial management skills.
This role will focus heavily on Accounts Payable operations, vendor management, tax compliance, and general accounting support. The Staff Accountant will work closely with operations, purchasing, manufacturing, and leadership teams to ensure financial accuracy, maintain compliance requirements, and support the overall success of our manufacturing.
The ideal candidate is organized, analytical, proactive, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a high level of accuracy and professionalism.
Responsibilities
- Process and code vendor invoices accurately and timely.
- Match invoices to purchase orders and receiving documentation.
- Review invoices for proper approvals and expense allocations.
- Prepare and process ACH, wire, and check payments.
- Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies.
- Assist with vendor onboarding
- Prepare and file sales and use tax returns.
- Assist with state and local business filings.
- Support annual tax reporting and compliance requirements.
- Work with external accountants and auditors as needed.
- Gather documentation for audits, reviews, and tax inquiries.
- Prepare journal entries and maintain supporting documentation.
- Assist with month-end and year-end close activities.
- Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and balance sheet accounts.
- Monitor prepaid expenses, accruals, and fixed asset records.
- Support cash flow reporting and financial analysis.
- Assist in preparing monthly financial statements and management reports.
- Research and resolve accounting discrepancies.
- Support budget tracking and expense analysis.
- Help improve accounting processes and internal controls.
- Cross-train in other accounting and administrative functions to support the team.
QualificationsRequired
- Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 2-5 years of accounting, bookkeeping, or finance experience.
- Strong understanding of Accounts Payable processes.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
- Professional communication skills and ability to work across departments.
Preferred
- Experience with ERP or accounting systems such as Microsoft Dynamics, NetSuite, Sage, QuickBooks, or similar platforms.
- Experience preparing sales and use tax filings.
- Manufacturing, distribution, or inventory accounting experience plus.
- Experience working with auditors and regulatory agencies.
- Familiarity with purchasing and inventory management processes.
