Staff Accountant / Senior Accountant                                                           

THIS IS A HYBRID POSITION REQUIRING ON-SITE PRESENCE THREE DAYS PER WEEK IN ALLENTOWN, PA or LOUISVILLE, KY

Overview

PPL is seeking an accounting professional for a current opportunity within the Controller’s organization. This position may be filled at the Staff Accountant or Senior Accountant level depending on qualifications and experience.

Successful candidates will support a variety of accounting functions, process improvements, and internal controls while maintaining a complete and accurate ledger. The primary area of focus for this role includes, but is not limited to, accounting for accruals, prepaid expenses and intercompany allocations. Specific responsibilities and scope of work will vary based on experience and assigned level.


Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and analyze accounting transactions, journal entries, and account reconciliations.
  • Maintain accurate general ledger records and supporting documentation.
  • Support, monitor, and enhance internal controls over financial reporting.
  • Perform accounting analyses and assist with resolving accounting-related issues.
  • Develop and maintain supporting workpapers and documentation.
  • Research accounting guidance and recommend solutions to business challenges.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and increased efficiency.
  • Collaborate with business partners, leadership, and internal customers.
  • Apply sound judgment and problem-solving skills to support business objectives.
  • Build and maintain knowledge of accounting principles, company processes, and regulatory requirements.
  • Participation in transition to SAP including user acceptance testing as needed.
  • Provide guidance, training, or support to less experienced team members, as appropriate based on level.

  • Bachelor's degree with at least three accounting courses OR Bachelor's degree in Accounting with at least one year of accounting-related experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
  • 2-4 years of accounting-related experience.
  • Experience in public accounting, SEC reporting, or Sarbanes-Oxley compliance.
  • CPA, CMA, or MBA.

Senior Accountant 

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree with at least three accounting courses and five years of accounting experience, OR Bachelor's degree in Accounting with 3-5 years of accounting-related experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, MBA, or other advanced business degree.
  • 4+ years of accounting-related experience in utility accounting, public accounting, SEC reporting, and a working knowledge of Sarbanes-Oxley compliance requirements.
  • CPA or CMA certification.
  • Demonstrated ability to research technical accounting guidance.
  • Experience with SAP.
