Job Summary
The Operations Manager is responsible for leading the day-to-day operations of multiple facility service accounts to ensure exceptional service delivery, client satisfaction, financial performance, and operational excellence. This role oversees workforce planning, labor management, budgeting, contract compliance, and employee development while serving as the primary operational liaison for assigned clients.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with a strong background in janitorial operations, multi-site management, and customer relationship management. This individual is expected to drive operational efficiencies, maintain high-quality standards, and foster a culture centered on safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
Operations & Accountability Management
  • Direct and oversee day-to-day janitorial operations across assigned facilities within the region, ensuring services are delivered in accordance with contractual requirements, company standards, and client expectations.
  • Establish, communicate, and enforce operational standards across all locations to ensure consistency, accountability, and service quality.
  • Conduct routine and documented site inspections and operational audits to verify cleanliness standards, staffing levels, safety compliance, and adherence to company procedures.
  • Identify operational deficiencies, performance gaps, or compliance risks and implement corrective actions in a timely and documented manner.
  • Ensure appropriate staffing, scheduling, and allocation of labor and resources to meet operational needs while maintaining cost controls.
  • Serve as a regional escalation point for operational, personnel, and compliance issues.

Client Relations & Financial Oversight
  • Serve as a senior operational contact for clients within the region, as assigned.
  • Communicate professionally with clients regarding service performance, operational concerns, and corrective actions.
  • Prepare and present operational and performance reports to clients and internal leadership.
  • Support client retention through consistent service quality and responsive issue resolution.
  • Monitor regional labor hours, overtime, supplies, and equipment usage to ensure efficient and cost-effective operations.
  • Ensure proper use, care, and inventory control of equipment and materials across assigned facilities.
  • Identify operational risks, budget concerns, and resource needs and communicate them to senior leadership.

People Management & Labor Understanding
  • Lead, mentor, and develop Supervisors, Project Leads, Floor Technicians, and Team Leads across the region.
  • Establish clear performance expectations and hold management staff accountable for results, conduct, and adherence to company policies and procedures.
  • Provide ongoing coaching, feedback, and formal performance evaluations.
  • Administer corrective and disciplinary actions in accordance with company policy, applicable labor agreements, and in coordination with Human Resources.
  • Promote a culture of professionalism, safety, respect, accountability, and compliance throughout the region.

Risk Management
  • Monitor workplace conduct and compliance, including safety, timekeeping, and policy adherence.
  • Immediately escalate serious misconduct (harassment, discrimination, retaliation, threats, or violence) to Human Resources and senior leadership.
  • Enforce company policies consistently and ensure timely, accurate documentation of corrective actions.
  • Ensure supervisors and managers understand and fulfill their obligation to escalate risk-related issues appropriately.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Facilities Management, Operations Management, or a related field preferred.
  • Valid driver's license with the ability and willingness to travel throughout the assigned region.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish, with strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of progressive experience in janitorial, facility services, or operations management, including oversight of multiple client accounts or geographic territories.
  • Demonstrated success leading, developing, and managing supervisors and large, diverse workforces in a multi-site environment.
  • Strong knowledge of commercial cleaning operations, floor care, janitorial equipment, cleaning chemicals, and OSHA safety regulations.
  • Proven ability to manage budgets, control labor costs, enforce company policies, resolve operational issues, and drive accountability across multiple locations.
  • Experience conducting site inspections, quality audits, and implementing corrective action plans to ensure contractual compliance and client satisfaction.
  • Demonstrated ability to enforce policies, manage performance, and maintain operational discipline.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and workforce management or scheduling systems.

Travel
Travel within the assigned service area or between contract locations is required. Occasional state travel may be necessary according to operational needs.
Physical Demands
  • Ability to stand, walk, and conduct facility inspections for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as required by operational demands.

Work Environment
This position operates across multiple environments, which may include:
