Account Development Associate information

What is an account development associate?

An Account Development Associate is a sales professional responsible for identifying and qualifying potential business opportunities and leads for their company. They typically work closely with the sales and marketing teams to research prospects, initiate contact, and nurture relationships to create qualified sales opportunities. Their goal is to help drive revenue growth by building a strong pipeline of potential clients for account executives or sales managers to pursue. This role often involves a mix of phone outreach, email communication, and use of CRM tools to track interactions and progress.

How does an account development associate typically collaborate with sales and marketing teams?

As an Account Development Associate, you play a crucial role in bridging the gap between sales and marketing teams. You'll often work closely with marketing to understand current campaigns and leverage qualified leads, while partnering with sales to ensure a smooth handoff of prospects and provide feedback on lead quality. Regular communication, attending team meetings, and using shared CRM tools are common practices to align goals and strategies. This collaboration helps drive consistent messaging and increases the chances of converting leads into long-term clients.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an account development associate, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Account Development Associate, you need strong communication, lead generation, and sales prospecting skills, typically supported by a bachelor's degree in business or a related field. Familiarity with CRM software such as Salesforce and proficiency in using sales automation and lead-tracking tools are essential. Outstanding interpersonal skills, resilience, and a proactive attitude help you build relationships and overcome objections. These skills and qualities are crucial for consistently generating qualified leads and contributing to the success of the sales team.

Job description

Why You Want to Work Here

We are seeking a curious, motivated, and detail-oriented Membership Development Associate to support a sales team through lead generation, account research, prospect qualification, and sales pipeline management. This is an excellent entry point into business development for a recent graduate who is interested in sales and marketing but prefers a research- and relationship-focused approach over high-volume cold calling, with opportunities to grow into direct membership sales over time.

Responsibilities

  • Research target manufacturing companies and identify executive-level decision-makers and potential membership prospects.
  • Research and qualify or disqualify leads based on established target-market criteria.
  • Develop and refine personalized outreach and nurture messaging designed to engage C-suite and senior-level executives.
  • Support sales campaigns and collaborate closely with sales team members to generate new membership opportunities.
  • Schedule introductory calls and meetings with qualified prospects for the sales team.
  • Maintain accurate prospect, contact, lead, and pipeline information within the CRM.
  • Monitor and update sales stages, follow-up activities, and other pipeline information to ensure data remains accurate and actionable.
  • Review campaign performance and analytics using tools such as Outreach, Salesforce, ZoomInfo, and LinkedIn Sales Navigator.
  • Develop a strong understanding of the organization's membership offerings, target markets, and the various executive audiences served.
  • Support sales automation initiatives and identify opportunities to improve prospecting and outreach processes.
  • Provide general administrative and sales support to help the team achieve membership and revenue goals.

Qualifications

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree required, ideally in Marketing, Business, Communications, Liberal Arts, or a related field.
  • 1โ€“2 years of experience in sales, marketing, business development, or sales support preferred; recent graduates and internship experience will be considered.
  • Experience using a CRM, particularly Salesforce, strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with sales automation or prospecting tools such as Outreach, ZoomInfo, or LinkedIn Sales Navigator is a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate data across a sales pipeline.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to develop professional messaging for senior-level audiences.
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple leads, opportunities, deadlines, and follow-up activities.
  • Curious, motivated, coachable, and eager to learn and develop a career in sales and business development.
  • Ability to understand sales processes, customer lifecycles, and CRM stages.
  • Comfortable working independently in a primarily remote environment while collaborating effectively with a team.
