Job description

The Development Support Assistant is responsible for supporting fundraising operations, assisting the Volunteer Team with volunteer coordination, and providing administrative support to the Development Team. The Development Support Assistant will participate in fundraising activities including donor relations, in-kind donations, and special events. Some evenings and weekends required.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide front desk coverage for the Office Administrator during out-of-office periods, lunch breaks, and required meetings and trainings.
  • Assist the Development Associate with in-kind donation outreach for events and provide support during drives by unloading, processing, and shelving donations.
  • Serve as the backup for the Development Associate at our Suffolk location to ensure efficient operations, donor support, and successful in-kind collection efforts.
  • Assist with various Development tasks including delivering thank you items to donors, special event projects, unloading, loading, and picking up incoming and outgoing donations.
  • Answer phone and e-mail inquiries in a timely manner.
  • Assist with researching donor information.
  • Help with Salesforce data entry as needed.
  • Assist with printing and assembly of development mailings and marketing material and manage the bulk mail account.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Customer Service:
  • Provide service to internal and external customers according to standards as outlined in ForKids Customer CARE Manual.
Financial Management:
  • Use agency resources (financial and non-financial) prudently.
  • Acknowledge and follow the financial policies of the agency.
Grants Data Management:
  • Accurately complete all required data reporting in accordance with established guidelines.
  • Participate in all scheduled data collection training.

Community Engagement:

  • Participate in development and fundraising activities as needed and requested (ex: meeting with donors, providing tours, attending fundraising events).
  • Regularly engage, support, and collaborate with volunteers to provide a meaningful experience.
Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent work experience.

Essential Functions, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to maintain a high level of poise and professionalism in all circumstances.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and networking skills with large groups as well as with individuals are essential.
  • Self-motivated and disciplined to regularly set and achieve work goals.
  • Demonstrated ability to take primary responsibility for a diverse number of projects and to complete them in a timely manner and with limited supervision.
  • Ability to work in a team setting.
  • Effective time management skills, uses logic and resources to solve problems.
  • Valid driver's license with no more than three minor driving violations and/or accidents combined within the last three years, and no major moving violations in the past five years.
  • Ability to lift at least 30 lbs, bend, crouch, sit and stand for long periods, and climb stairs.
