Position Summary

At Apex, we design and deliver transportation projects that improve how communities move and connect. Our team works on roadway, drainage, multimodal, bridge-related, and utility infrastructure projects for FDOT, counties, municipalities, and other public agencies throughout Florida.

We're looking for a Transportation Project Manager who enjoys leading complex projects, building client relationships, mentoring staff, and solving real-world engineering challenges. This role provides the opportunity to manage projects from pursuit through design, permitting, bidding, and construction while working with a highly collaborative team of engineers, designers, and technical specialists.

What You'll Do

You will serve as the primary point of contact for clients and lead multidisciplinary project teams responsible for delivering transportation infrastructure projects. You'll work closely with FDOT and local agencies, coordinate with utilities and permitting authorities, oversee project budgets and schedules, and guide technical staff through successful project delivery.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing project scope, schedule, budget, and client communication.
  • Leading project delivery teams through design, permitting, bidding, and construction support.
  • Overseeing quality control efforts and technical reviews.
  • Supporting business development, proposals, interviews, and client relationship management.
What We're Looking For
  • Florida Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • 8+ years of transportation engineering experience.
  • Experience managing projects for FDOT, counties, municipalities, or other public-sector clients.
  • Strong understanding of FDOT standards, project delivery processes, and transportation design.
  • The ability to lead teams, develop staff, and build long-term client relationships.
