Overview:
We are currently seeking qualified candidates for the position of Quality Assurance Analyst (Digital Accessibility Specialist) to assist the Department for Medicaid Services Communications Team with achieving website and digital document accessibility compliance.
Responsibilities:
  • Serve as a subject matter resource on digital accessibility standards and user experience best practices for websites and digital documents.
  • Remediation of existing digital documents to comply with accessibility standards, with a focus on complex PDFs.
  • Evaluation, posting, and editing website content for accessibility compliance, and collaborating with website editors and staff on web accessibility improvements.
  • Conduct troubleshooting or training sessions with website editors and staff working on web and web document accessibility
  • Collaborate with staff who create new documents to ensure compliance with accessibility requirements and best practices.
  • Assist communications manager with tracking progress toward the goal of full web and document remediation by 12/31/26.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree, or equivalent combination of recent, relevant work experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 and Adobe Acrobat Pro, including accessible document best practices.
  • At least one year of experience in remediating PDF documents for accessibility.
  • Strong understanding of accessibility laws and regulations, including the Americans with Disabilities Act, Section 504 and 508, and Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0/2.1 level AA standards.
  • Working knowledge of screen reader technology, such as NVDA, color contrast analyzers, and other accessibility tools.
  • Posses effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be detail-oriented, self-motivated, and able to work both independently and in conjunction with team members.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Familiarity with Kentucky Healthcare Programs, such as Medicaid
  • Working knowledge of Canva, with a focus on accessible document creation
  • Experience with creating, editing, or managing web content using a web content management system, such as Microsoft SharePoint
  • Experience with creating accessible social media content.
