Traveling Access Control Technician (75-90% Travel)
 
Location: Remote/Home Based (Must Reside Near Major Airport)
Travel: 75-90% Nationwide Travel
Duration: 6+ Month Contract with Potential Contract-to-Hire Opportunity
 
Position Summary
 
We are seeking hands-on Access Control Technicians (75-90% Travel)
 to support physical security and infrastructure deployments across multiple locations nationwide.
 
This position is heavily focused on access control, security system installation, low-voltage wiring, and field deployment work. Candidates should have experience installing badge readers, door access systems, cameras, intercoms, security controllers, maglocks, and other low-voltage security equipment.
 
Candidates with backgrounds in access control installation, security system deployment, alarm systems, surveillance systems, low-voltage installation, telecommunications, field services, or structured cabling are highly encouraged to apply.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Travel to locations throughout the United States to support infrastructure and security deployment projects.
  • Install and configure physical security systems including:
    • Access control systems
    • Badge readers
    • Door controllers
    • Door locking mechanisms (maglocks/electric strikes)
    • Security cameras
    • Intercom systems
  • Install and support Verkada security solutions and similar access control platforms.
  • Perform low-voltage wiring and termination for access control and security devices.
  • Run and manage cabling required for security system installations.
  • Conduct site assessments and determine equipment placement requirements.
  • Label, test, and document installations and cabling.
  • Perform basic connectivity validation and troubleshooting.
  • Coordinate equipment deliveries and deployment schedules with internal teams.
  • Complete project documentation and installation reports.
  • Support general IT and infrastructure activities when not actively traveling.
 
Required Qualifications
  • 1-5 years of experience in one or more of the following:
    • Access Control Installation
    • Security System Installation
    • Low Voltage Installation
    • Alarm System Installation
    • Surveillance/Camera Installation
    • Telecommunications
    • Field Service Technician
    • Structured Cabling
  • Experience installing badge readers, access control devices, cameras, intercoms, or similar physical security technologies.
  • Understanding of low-voltage wiring and power requirements for access control systems.
  • Experience working with door hardware, locking mechanisms, controllers, and related security infrastructure.
  • Ability to read and follow installation documentation and site requirements.
  • Ability to work independently in remote field environments.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Ability and willingness to travel extensively.
 
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Verkada, Kastle, Lenel, Genetec, Avigilon, Brivo, Openpath, ADT Commercial, or similar physical security/access control platforms.
  • Experience installing maglocks, electric strikes, door controllers, badge readers, and surveillance cameras.
  • Experience with structured cabling and cable termination.
  • Experience supporting multi-site deployments.
  • Basic networking knowledge including switches, wireless access points, and network connectivity troubleshooting.
