What You'll Do
The Systems Engineer II is responsible for the implementation and technical execution of assigned physical security projects, including video surveillance, access control, and alarm technologies for both prospective and existing customers. Leveraging strong industry knowledge and hands-on technical expertise, this role works cross-functionally with Sales, Project Management, Installation Teams, and the Technical Assistance Center (TAC) to refine, validate, and deliver high-quality security solutions.
This position requires a strong understanding of physical security system components and integrations to effectively drive projects, support field teams, and resolve complex technical challenges.
Key Responsibilities
  • Project Collaboration & Execution
  • Review assigned projects and participate in key meetings with Sales, Project Managers, and Operations to understand, develop, and implement approved designs
  • Manage timelines for project documentation preparation, device configuration, and technical deliverables
  • Escalate complex technical issues to management with recommended solutions and collaborate with engineering peers to ensure successful project outcomes

Technical Design & Implementation
  • Collaborate with preparation and installation teams to ensure design adherence and project vision, providing hands-on assistance as needed
  • Conduct site surveys and assessments to determine optimal equipment placement and system architecture
  • Design and engineer integrated security solutions, including camera layouts, access control zones, and network infrastructure requirements
  • Create system diagrams and installation specifications using System Surveyor and industry-standard documentation tools
  • Configure and test physical security system components, including IP cameras, access control systems, intercoms, and related security solutions, prior to deployment
  • Partner with Project Managers during customer engineering meetings to gather requirements, present technical solutions, and guide clients through new technologies
  • Perform system integration testing across access control, video surveillance, and intrusion detection platforms, working closely with onsite technicians and providing technical support as needed
  • Support system commissioning activities and conduct end-user training sessions upon project completion

Documentation, Reporting & Support
  • Develop custom reporting templates and technical documentation using Excel, Google Sheets, and other reporting tools
  • Create and maintain comprehensive system documentation, including as-built drawings, asset tags, serial numbers, and user guides for internal and customer use
  • Partner with Project Managers and field installation teams to support seamless project execution and troubleshooting
  • Serve as a technical resource to the Technical Assistance Center (TAC) for service-related issues, including potential onsite support when required

Process Improvement
  • Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of best practices, documentation, and knowledge-base resources
  • Assist with brainstorming and documentation for new features, enhancements, and system modifications

WHAT YOU'LL BRING:
  • Five (5) or more years of experience in the physical security / security systems industry
  • Hands-on experience configuring and testing physical security systems, including IP cameras, access control, intercoms, and related technologies
  • Experience performing physical security system integration testing
  • Hands-on expertise with OME security platforms, including Verkada and Avigilon
  • Experience developing technical documentation and custom reports using Excel, Google Sheets, and similar tools
  • Strong foundation in Layer 1-Layer 3 networking concepts
  • Experience working across diverse industry verticals, including:

    • K-12 education
    • Healthcare
    • Corporate and commercial environments
    • Government facilities
    • Retail environments
    • Manufacturing facilities
    • Financial institutions

Technical Knowledge
Familiarity with one or more of the following platforms or technologies is preferred but not required:
Video Management Systems (VMS):
  • Milestone XProtect (Essential, Professional, Expert, Corporate)

  • Verkada Command

Additional Technical Skills:
  • Intrusion detection and alarm systems

  • Industry compliance knowledge (FERPA, HIPAA, SOX, etc.)

Certifications (Preferred)
  • Physical security manufacturer sales and technical certifications supporting solution delivery
  • Manufacturer certifications (e.g., Verkada, Avigilon)

Work Schedule & Travel
  • Regional travel required
  • Home-office flexibility available up to 20% of the schedule with reliable internet access
  • In-office presence may be required up to 80% of the time when not traveling
