Position

The Senior Accelerator Operator will assist in the development of the processes around routine and non-routine particle (electron) accelerator equipment operations and maintenance tasks necessary to safely, compliantly, and efficiently manufacture radiopharmaceuticals. The Senior Accelerator Operator will guide a team in performing routine operations and maintenance. The individual will be required for the operational success of the radioisotope production process, including accelerator startup/shutdown operations and maintenance, target irradiation, and other routine operations. This position will be the point of contact to a shift team that must work independently and with limited supervision. The shift team will be responsible for responding to abnormal incidents and breakdowns, escalating issues appropriately, and troubleshooting as necessary, This position supports production in a 24-hour manufacturing facility and may require evenings, nights, weekends, and some holidays with occasional overtime.

Responsibilities
  • Safely, compliantly, and efficiently operates the accelerators and associated systems and equipment, such as hot cells, primary cooling systems, and development work on filling and packaging lines
  • Provide support for operational and testing activities of the accelerator and associated systems.
  • Give direction and assist with routine maintenance, functional tests, and inspections of accelerators and associated systems, and equipment.
  • Assist the development of production documents, such as Standard Operating Procedures, Work Instructions, Forms, and Logs.
  • Performs various aspects of the radiopharmaceutical irradiation and production process, including pre-production set-up, manufacturing processes, and post-production activities.
Qualifications

Bachelors or Technical qualification in Engineering, Physics is preferred. Three or more years of working in a highly regulated / cGMP environment; or equivalent related experience is required. Experience working with electronics, test equipment, and/or mechanical systems is required. Knowledge of the operation of an accelerator, nuclear reactor, or other radiation producing devices, and experience in radiopharmaceutical production is preferred. Strong mechanical aptitude is required, and some scientific background is ideal.
