Job description

Primary Purpose: The Outpatient Intake Coordinator/Addictions Counselor provides outreach for ongoing referrals to ACCA and serves as the primary Admissions Coordinator for the Outpatient Clinic. This role conduct screenings and assessments of potential Outpatient clients as an Intake Specialist, ensuring a seamless entry into Addiction Recovery. You will provide Substance Abuse counseling services in accordance with OASAS and Agency regulations, acting as a Patient Care Coordinator to manager clinic documentation and case records.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Admissions and Outreach: Works with ACCA Administrative Assistant scheduling intakes; promotes ACCA services to the community and Human Services partners to secure referrals.
  2. Clinical Intake: Conducts comprehensive screenings and assessments as an Intake Specialist. Evaluates and motivates clients at the start of their Addiction Recovery journey.
  3. Counseling Services: Serves as a Substance Abuse Counselor/ Drug and Alcohol Counselor, providing group counseling sessions and carrying a small caseload as needed.
  4. Care Coordination: Acts as the Patient Care Coordinator, making and completing all referrals to appropriate medical, social, or auxiliary Human Servies.
  5. Documentation: Maintains accurate and timely documentation in case records according to agency policy and regulatory requirements, upholding the professional standards of an Addiction Counselor.
  6. Envorinment & Safety: Assists in providing a safe, respectful, and therapeutic enviornment for treatment.
  7. Professional Development: Maintains a professional relationship with the community and peers; continues to seek professional growth and participate in all assigned committees.
  8. Compliance: Adheres to all ACCA policies and procedures and performs tasks as assigned by the Clinical Director.

Experience Requirements: A minimum of two (2) years' experience as an Addictions Counselor or Drug and Alcohol Counselor, preferably in an OASAS-licensed outpatient chemical dependency treatment program. Previous experience in an Admission Coordinator or Intake Coordinator capacity is strongly preferred.

Licenses, Certificates, or Registrations Required: Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor Certification (CASAC) or other Qualified Health Professional (Q.H.P.) status is mandatory.
