Job description

Hexcel is currently seeking a Maintenance Mechanic 1 - ACAP for our Casa Grande, AZ, USA location. Start rate: $34.15 Per Hour during the New Hire Orientation Period - normally 90 calendar days, then increases to $35.95 Per Hour. This position is on Grave shift (11:00PM to 7:00AM, Monday - Friday + O/T as required) and pays a $1.75 per hour shift premium. Note that the workday on Grave shift is designated by the day the shift ends.
The selected individual will be responsible for but not limited to the following obligations:
  • Maintains, analyzes, and improves deficiencies of Acousti-Cap equipment and process. Disassembles equipment as necessary and repairs or replaces faulty components as needed using a variety of hand tools.
  • Calculates dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics and instruments such as micrometers and Vernier calipers. Measures, examines, and tests completed units in order to detect defects and ensure conformance to specifications, using precision instruments.
  • Observes and listens to operating machines or equipment in order to diagnose machine malfunctions and to determine need for adjustments or repairs. Aligns and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials onto machines. Monitors the feed and speed of machines during the machining process.
  • Completes mechanical repairs and/or improvements on a variety of processes, equipment, fixtures, and unit operations in/on the following equipment/processes: ACAP Work Cell/Engineered Products.
  • Replaces hydraulic and pneumatic parts as needed. Changes bearings, sprockets, chains, belts, shafts, cylinders, and other interchangeable components.
  • Repairs and replaces all types of pumps. Performs basic pipefitting, plumbing, threading, and layout.
  • Works on weekends and holidays when requested. Must have full working set of essential mechanical tools.
  • Performs equipment and process checks to ensure they are operating correctly, producing a quality product and within specification. Note any drifts within specification.
  • Performs prescribed preventative maintenance activities on Acousti-Cap equipment following defined PM instructions and schedules.

Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience with duties commonly associated with that of a mechanic/mechanical maintenance person.
  • Technical Degree in the area of expertise from an accredited college or technical school preferred and may substitute for 1 year of experience.
  • Working knowledge of computers.
  • Valid Driver License.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals, including blueprints and technical drawings. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
