Job description

Attorney OR Senior Attorney

Attorney/Consumer Assistance Program (ACAP) | Tallahassee

This position may be filled at either the Attorney or Senior Attorney level. Employees of The Florida Bar are eligible to apply for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program (PSLF).

Salary Range

Attorney: $79,822.39

Senior Attorney: $87,804.63

Summary function: Reviews written complaints and conducts preliminary investigations of opened complaints. Screens telephone inquiries on the ACAP Hotline for potential assistance.

Required minimum education: Juris Doctorate and a Florida Bar Member in Good Standing.

Required minimum professional work experience:

Attorney: One (1) year of legal experience as an attorney.

Senior Attorney: Three (3) years legal experience as an attorney.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

- Reviews written complaints to determine whether a disciplinary file should be opened. Conducts a preliminary investigation through written communication with the complainant and lawyer. Determines whether there is sufficient evidence to forward the matter to the Branch Office for additional review and/or investigation and possible referral to a grievance committee.

- Screens telephone inquiries on the ACAP Hotline to determine what action, if any, can be performed by The Florida Bar. Directs certain inquiries or minor complaints to the appropriate Bar committee program and/or public agency.

- Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge:

- The Rules Regulating The Florida Bar

- Legal terminology and the judicial process

- The Florida Bar disciplinary procedures

Skills:

- Excellent legal and analytical communication, both oral and written

- MS Word

- Internet Research

- Case management

Abilities:
