LRC INSTRUCTIONAL ASSISTANT
Glenn Westlake Middle School, Lombard, IL

  • $16.56 per hour for PARA License, $17.66 per hour for SUB+BA License, $18.76 per hour for PEL License


QUALIFICATIONS:   
1.     Hold PARAPROFESSIONAL, SUB/BA OR PEL Licensure for Illinois and registered in county 19(DuPage) 
2.     Prefer experience with special education students. 
3.    Must be able to speak educational instructions in spanish to students.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:  
1.     Listening and speaking skills.
2.     Moving and lifting of materials, supplies, etc.
3.     Reaching high and low shelving and/or files.
4.     Visually observing student behavior.
REPORTS TO: Building principal.
SUPERVISES: Students as assigned by principal/classroom teacher.
JOB GOAL:   To supervise students and give instructional assistance as directed to enhance the educational program of the district.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Maintains the Learning Resource Center by inventorying, ordering and cataloging the LRC materials and equipment.
















  1. Supervises the distribution of library materials.
  2. Assists teachers in finding appropriate classroom materials.
  3. Assists students in the use of the Learning Resource Center and computers.
  4. Coordinates LRC volunteers. 
  5. Works with individuals or small groups of students to reinforce material initially introduced by the teacher.
  6. Guides independent study, enrichment work, make-up work and remedial work developed by the teacher.
  7. Supervises students as assigned by the building principal.
  8. Performs job-related tasks assigned by the principal.
     


    CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
    Work days and compensation based on hourly rate as established by the board of education.
    EVALUATION:
    Performance is evaluated by building principal with teacher input.
