Academic Support Coordinator Jobs (NOW HIRING)

The Coordinator of Academic Support Programs provides leadership for the day-to-day operation, quality, and continuous improvement of tutoring, Supplemental Instruction (SI), and related academic support services within the Academic Success Center. The Coordinator serves as the primary operational leader for academic support personnel and is responsible for recruiting, supervising, developing, and evaluating tutors, SI leaders, peer educators, and student employees. Working in close partnership with faculty, academic departments, and ASC leadership, the Coordinator ensures that academic support services are responsive to course needs, informed by student engagement and outcome data, and aligned with Forsyth Tech’s commitment to access, success, persistence, retention, and student learning.

Minimum Qualifications

Required:

• Bachelor’s degreeNote: Degrees and hours must be from a college accredited by a United States Department of Education accepted accrediting agency such as SACSCOC .
• At least three years of progressively responsible experience in an educational, academic support, student success, tutoring, or related environment
• Demonstrated experience supervising, coordinating, or leading employees, student workers, peer educators, or academic support personnel.
• Demonstrated experience managing programs, services, projects, or complex operational responsibilities.
• Experience working collaboratively with faculty, instructional staff, or academic departments.
• Experience using data, reporting, or assessment information to support program decisions and continuous improvement.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred:

• Master’s degree in education, higher education, student affairs, educational leadership, an academic discipline or related field
• Five or more years of progressively responsible experience in academic support, tutoring, supplemental instruction, student success, or a similar higher educaitonal setting
• Experience supervising a team of tutors, SI leaders, peer educators, student employees, or professional staff
• Experience developing or expanding Supplemental Instruction, embedded tutoring, peer-learning, or course-support programs
• Experience with program assessment, student success analytics, dashboards, or data visualization tools
• Experience with student success technologies, tutoring platforms, learning management systems, CRM /scheduling systems, or AI-enabled educational technologies
• Teaching, training, or professional development experience in a community college or higher education environment

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Staff Supervision, Development, and Performance

• Recruit, hire, onboard, train, schedule, supervise, and evaluate tutors, Supplemental Instruction Leaders, and student employees.
• Coordinate staff assignments to ensure appropriate coverage across all tutoring locations and services.
• Provide day-to-day guidance, coaching, and support to student employees.
• Conduct observations and provide constructive feedback to promote continuous improvement.
• Coordinate regular staff meetings and professional development activities.
• Assist with performance management and disciplinary processes in collaboration with the Director.
• Maintain tutor schedules, payroll approvals, and employment documentation.
• Serve as the primary resource for tutor questions and coordinate resolution of day-to-day operational concerns.

Faculty Collaboration and Academic Partnerships

• Serve as a primary liaison between the Academic Success Center and faculty or academic departments for tutoring, Supplemental Instruction, embedded support, and course-specific academic support needs.
• Collaborate with faculty to identify high-impact and gateway courses, challenging course content, and opportunities for targeted or embedded academic support.
• Coordinate course-aligned SI sessions, review sessions, workshops, study groups, and other academic interventions in partnership with faculty and instructional leaders.
• Gather and communicate faculty feedback regarding academic support services and use that feedback to inform program improvements.
• Promote clear referral pathways and strengthen faculty awareness and use of ASC services.

Student Success, Engagement, and Retention

• Assist with developing and coordinate proactive strategies that encourage early and consistent student engagement with tutoring and academic support services.
• Support outreach, follow-up, re-engagement, and referral initiatives designed to strengthen persistence, retention, and academic achievement.
• Provide guidance to students regarding available academic support resources, effective study strategies, and appropriate referrals to other college services.
• Coordinate workshops, review sessions, study groups, and other learning opportunities that respond to identified student and course needs.
• Advocate for access to academic support and identify opportunities to expand services for underserved courses, programs, locations, and schedules.

Assessment, Data Management and Continuous Improvement

• Collect, monitor, analyze, and maintain data related to student participation, utilization, repeat engagement, course demand, service delivery, and academic outcomes.
• Use data and student/faculty feedback to identify trends, gaps, and opportunities for program improvement and resource allocation.
• Prepare regular reports, summaries, and presentations that communicate the reach, effectiveness, and impact of academic support programs.
• Assist in evaluating the relationship between academic support participation and student success measures such as course completion, persistence, retention, and learning outcomes.
• Maintain accurate and confidential records in accordance with institutional policies, applicable reporting requirements, and FTE auditing procedures.

Technology, Innovation, and Service Improvement

• Support the effective use and implementation of academic support technologies, scheduling platforms, tutoring systems, communication tools, and data-reporting systems.
• Coordinate operational use of college-supported virtual tutoring resources and other technology-enabled academic support services.
• Participate in the evaluation and implementation of emerging learning technologies, including appropriate AI-enabled tools, that can expand access or improve the effectiveness of academic support.
• Pilot and evaluate new tutoring, SI, peer-learning, and course-support models in collaboration with ASC leadership and campus partners.
• Stay current on research, trends, and best practices in tutoring, Supplemental Instruction, peer learning, student retention, and academic support in higher education.

Communication, Collaboration, and Strategic Support

• Maintain regular communication with ASC staff, faculty, academic departments, student support offices, and other campus partners to support coordinated student success efforts.
• Represent the Academic Success Center on committees, workgroups, events, and collaborative initiatives as assigned.
• Support grant-funded, pilot, outreach, and special projects that advance the mission and strategic priorities of the Academic Success Center and the College.
• Contribute operational expertise and staff-level insight to ASC planning, assessment, and continuous improvement efforts.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Academic Success and Retention.
