Job description
Job Summary: Assist Senior Director with day-to-day management of office, grants, trainings, screenings, and general office management. Provide administrative management to SAAVE office including compiling, recording and analyzing data for grant applications, grant reporting and management meetings. Supervision of in house advocacy staff members including scheduling, training, data reporting, office coverage, and client follow-up.
Provide 24/7 consultations and troubleshooting for volunteer and staff advocates when questions arise during a case. Management of volunteers for FACT accompaniment, LAP lines and Hotline including recruiting, training, hospital on-boarding, and scheduling. Provide crisis intervention counseling, accompaniment, advocacy, information, and referral services to survivors of sexual assault and domestic violence and secondary survivors.
Accompany survivors to the hospital, police, district attorney's office and court. Represent SAAVE in community in meetings, and teleconference calls.
Responsibilities:
Direct Services Support:
o Accompanies Sexual Assault, Domestic Violence, Intimate Partner Violence victims/clients to medical/forensic exams, court, police stations, and other appointments as needed.
o Provides information, referrals, practical assistance, and crisis intervention to victims.
o Conducts screenings in hospital for various types of victimology.
o Conducts client centered safety assessments and safety planning suited to the individual’s needs.
o Provides and/or oversees all crisis interventions, supportive listening and case management for all victims.
o Assists with applying for compensation through the New York State Office of Victims Services (OVS) including emergency HIV prophylaxis prescriptions.
o Participates in implementation of countywide Lethality Assessment Program (LAP) including direct services, data collection, reporting.
o Provides information and referral for victims for services on Valhalla campus and to network of off campus providers, such as shelter, mental health treatment, medical care, and other entitlements.
o Collaborates with police officers in order to effectively provide assistance to victims including appointments and facilitate kit pick up.
o Advocates with victim service providers including Family and Criminal Court staff for victims.
o Provides victim follow-up to ensure needs are met and addresses additional issues as they arise.
o Assists in Answering 254/7/365 on call calendar including 1) 24/7 crisis hotline 2) 24/7 LAP line; 3) 24/7 on call for forensic exam accompaniment.
Programmatic and Administrative Support:
o Maintains and monitors computerized data for accurate and timely grant management and reporting.
o Maintains thorough, accurate and timely case records and statistics.
o Drafts timely grant reports.
o Maintains logs and forms for all program services offered (direct services, hotline, and LAP).
o Coordinates weekly with Forensic Acute Care Team regarding cases and statistics.
o Works collaboratively with program staff in the development of new protocol and practices.
o Maintains programmatic documentation including training manuals.
o Maintains logs for additional training/certifications of staff and volunteer advocates.
o Maintains accurate schedules for FACT accompaniment on call and hotline/LAP line shifts.
o Maintains and monitors online training platform for onboarding of new volunteer advocates.
o Maintains volunteer advocate paperwork and certifications for program.
o Schedules and coordinates team meetings and/or trainings for program.
o Oversees day-to-day operations of SAAVE Program.
o Helps with providing outreach, education and training to departments within the hospital network as well as off campus including community agencies, schools and colleges as needed.
o Participates in staff, direct service and supervision meetings; Attends WMC Child Protection Committee, Westchester County Domestic Violence Council, NYS VAP weekly up-date meeting and other meetings as necessary.
o Engages in professional development trainings annually.
Qualifications/Requirements:
Experience: Professional experience sufficient in scope, depth, and performance may serve in place of academic requirements
Education: Bachelor's degree perferred.
Licenses / Certifications:
o Certification as SAAVE Rape Crisis Advocate required, pre-certification and annual training required (Training provided by SAAVE Program).
o Certification as LAP advocate with Westchester County Domestic Violence High Risk Team required (Training provided by SAAVE Program)
Other: Knowledge of victim-centered and trauma informed care, crisis intervention techniques and case management responsibilities; human behavior and needs at time of crime and crisis; behavioral health, social services, and other community resources; the criminal justice system, NY State Criminal Code and Rights of Victims, police department operations, policies and procedures. Ability to communicate with, supervise and empower volunteers and staff to be effective in their roles – experience with volunteers preferred. Ability to work cooperatively with different types of personalities. Knowledge and experience in office management. Knowledge and experience in data analysis.Multi-tasking abilities a plus. Computer knowledge essential, with an emphasis on Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Webex and internet research.
