The Department of Medical Education & Health Systems at TCOM is seeking to hire an Academic Program Manager who will provide support for the academic administration, coordination, implementation, assessment, and continuous improvement of TCOM's four-year Professional Identity and Health Systems Practice (PIHSP) curriculum.
Position Overview
This Academic Program Manager is responsible for the academic administration, coordination, implementation, assessment, and continuous improvement of TCOM's four-year Professional Identity and Health Systems Practice (PIHSP) curriculum. PIHSP is a longitudinal curriculum integrating professional identity formation with Health Systems Science and related competencies across Years 1-4 of medical school. The Academic Program Manager serves as a central operational resource for the Director of PIHSP Course, Director of Health Systems Science, Innovation and Leadership, Chair of Medical Education and Health Systems Science, PISHP course and section directors, PIHSP senior academic program manager, faculty, staff, students, and curriculum leadership.
The Academic Program Manager coordinates PIHSP components including Ethics, Health Systems Science, Innovation, Patient Safety, Population and Public Health, Interprofessional Education, Health Promotion and Disease Prevention, Health Policy, Health Informatics and Artificial Intelligence, Emotional Intelligence, leadership, and other current and evolving PIHSP content. The employee ensures alignment of activities, objectives, assessments, student experiences, faculty responsibilities, and curricular documentation across all four years.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and four (4) years of related experience; or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Excellent written, verbal, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage complex, longitudinal medical education programs involving multiple faculty, staff, and student stakeholders.
- Knowledge of curriculum administration, course coordination, assessment processes, and continuous quality improvement.
- Ability to organize, analyze, and report curriculum and assessment data and translate findings into actionable improvements.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree.
- Experience working in medical education, academic medicine, or a specialized/advanced educational environment.
- Experience with longitudinal curriculum administration and curriculum mapping.
- Experience with Canvas and other electronic platforms such as Qualtrics, SharePoint, and related assessment or survey systems.
- Experience supporting Health Systems Science, professional identity formation, competency-based medical education, or interprofessional education.
Job Duties
- Lead, oversee, and coordinate the day-to-day academic administration and longitudinal implementation of the Years 1-4 PIHSP curriculum in collaboration with the Course Director of PIHSP, senior Academic Program Manager, section directors, faculty, and staff, ensuring curricular activities, objectives, learning experiences, assessments, and required student activities are appropriately scheduled, implemented, and documented.Â
- Develop and maintain the Years 1-4 PIHSP academic calendar and coordinate curricular scheduling and logistics in collaboration with Academic Program Managers and other curriculum stakeholders, including reserving classrooms, technology, simulation and other instructional resources.
- Coordinate the development, revision, formatting, submission, and maintenance of PIHSP course and section syllabi and related curriculum documentation, including session information, faculty assignments, student requirements, assessment methods, curriculum meeting decisions, action items, and implementation timelines, ensuring accurate documentation for curriculum management.
- Create, maintain, and manage PIHSP Canvas course sites and electronic learning resources, including Canvas Calendars, modules, assignments, assessments, announcements, and other course materials, ensuring alignment with PIHSP curricular requirements and schedules.
- Collaborate with Testing and Evaluation Services and other assessment partners to coordinate PIHSP assessment administration, including quizzes, assignments, completion tracking, gradebook management, preliminary failure review, and accurate and timely assessment reporting.
- Communicate and collaborate with students, faculty, staff, and leadership to support PIHSP curriculum implementation, responding to questions regarding requirements, schedules, assignments, assessments, Canvas issues, and other routine curricular matters; escalating complex academic or policy matters to the appropriate faculty or administrator; and maintaining responsiveness, professionalism, confidentiality, accuracy, and high-quality customer service.
- Perform other duties related to PIHSP, Health Systems Science, curriculum administration, and medical education as assigned.
