Job description

Academic Data Analyst

The Office of the Provost and Dean of Faculty at Trinity College is seeking a skilled and creative Academic Data Analyst to support the ability of the provost and others to use data systematically to advance the college's liberal arts mission. The role will be critical in helping to enhance internal decision making and institutional effectiveness and to report comprehensively on data relating to student outcomes and academic excellence.

This new role will provide vital support to the Academic Affairs division. The division encompasses all academic departments, programs, centers, and offices. This includes the Registrar's Office; Trinity Plus Advising Center; Raether Library; Career Center; Grants Office; Elting Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship; and a campus in Rome.

The role requires partnering closely with others in and beyond the division to collect, manage, analyze, report, and present various strategic data, from multiple sources, relating to both students and faculty. Partnering closely with colleagues in the Analytics and Strategic Initiative Center is required to ensure institutional alignment. Analyzing internal data vis-a-vis national peer benchmarks will be expected.

The person in this role must have advanced data and technical skills, and should be able to analyze, manage, and prepare visually compelling deliverables, including dashboards, presentations, and reports. They will propose and design ways of integrating AI responsibly into the internal workflow. The capacity to communicate clearly to a non-technical audience, is essential.

We are looking for a person who can also take initiative, think creatively and flexibly, and have excellent inter-personal skills, taking pride in producing high-value outputs in a timely manner. Ensuring data integrity and protecting confidentiality, while exercising the utmost discretion and judgment, are required. Ideally, the person in this role has a passion for higher education and an appreciation for the transformative value of a liberal arts education. While an advanced degree and experience in higher education are preferred, we welcome all experienced professionals.

The position is for 28 hours per week, designed intentionally for someone looking for a flexible and dynamic work arrangement, with robust support for professional development. We are open to a role that takes place over fewer than 12 months per year or that works fewer than 40 hours per week. Working remotely for one-two days per week is possible, after an initial probationary period, so long as the person in this role is a regular and visible member of our campus community.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree, required
  • Master's Degree, preferred
  • 3-5 years of experience
  • 5-8 years of experience, preferred
