Job Duties:
This position will provide academic and career advising to Wausau Campus new, continuing, and transfer students. The Academic and Career Advisor will work closely with academic advisors at Northcentral Technical College (NTC) to help NTC students along the transfer pathway to UWSP as well as to support students who are enrolled with both UWSP at Wausau and NTC. In Fall 2026, the UWSP at Wausau Campus will relocate to Northcentral Technical College in Wausau, and this position will start at Northcentral Technical College.

Key Job Responsibilities:
  • Participates in the campus-wide advising community providing input to leadership regarding the development of advising, recruitment, and co/curricular programs offered by the school/college
  • Receives, processes, and responds to academic inquiries according to established policies and procedures
  • Serves as a main point of contact for students and provides information about educational options and academic requirements; assists with identifying and assessing interests, skills, and values to match appropriate field of study/career options, and refers students to appropriate institutional resources
  • Implements academic advising events such as workshops, panel discussions, and guest speakers
  • Maintains confidentiality and accurate student records and processes and responds to academic inquiries according to established institutional and Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) policies
  • Maintains expertise with advised curriculum and may assist in developing and recommending exceptions for policy and curriculum
  • Proactively engages students as needed

Starting in Fall 2026, the UWSP at Wausau Campus will be co-located with Northcentral Technical College on Northcentral Technical College's Wausau campus. UWSP at Wausau serves local first-year and transfer students.
Compensation & Benefits:
The Academic Advisor is a full-time, salaried, exempt, annual position.
Well-qualified candidates can expect a starting annual salary within a range of $49,632 - $51,161, commensurate with the candidate's education, related experience, and qualifications.

  • Knowledge of student development theories
