Job description

The following description is not intended as an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, duties and skills required of personnel so classified. Management retains the discretion of adding or changing the duties of the position at any time.
RIDE is seeking a hardworking Field Technician for the Customer Service Department. The field technician will be responsible for working at Customer facilities diagnosing and repairing buses/trucks under warranty and performing Customer support and campaigns required by RIDE or the Customer vehicles.
JOB DESCRIPTION
  • Under general supervision of the Customer Service Manager or Supervisor, the Technician will complete work assignments at Customer facilities, BYD Locations and may be asked to perform other maintenance duties as assigned.
  • Perform diagnosis and repairs of warranty related issues. Provide Customer interface and reports on field maintenance activities.
  • Determine, coordinate, manage resources required to meet set goals and assign resource workflows in the CRM.
  • Responds to Customer requests, comments or complaints as needed. Assist Customer with maintenance related issues.
  • Order parts as needed, coordinates repair and provides daily Service reports/Parts requisitions as needed.
  • Air brake systems and the ability to troubleshoot problems with the air valves.
  • Suspension diagnostics relating to air suspension, track bars, leveling valves.
  • Heavy-duty ABS systems diagnostics and repairs.
  • Ability to replace heavy-duty brake rotors, pads, and air disc calipers.
  • Coordinates new vehicle delivery acceptance with Customers in US and Canada
  • Provide daily status reporting to Customer Service Manager/Supervisor.
  • Follows up with Parts clerks for parts availability and ETA.

REQUIREMENT
  • Knowledge of transit bus maintenance operations and field service support.
  • Ideal candidates will have a minimum of two years' experience.
  • ASE Transit Bus Certifications
  • Transit bus Technician experience, preferably working in a field service environment.
  • Experienced in bus maintenance and repair. Experience with computer-based diagnostics in bus maintenance operations. Experience with bus Electric drive systems preferred.
  • Ability to travel and work in the Customer's environment. Weekends, nights and long hours will occur.
  • License: Must possess a valid driver's license in home state and no more than one infraction during previous three years. Class B with Passenger Endorsement preferred. If not at this time, the ability to obtain.
  • Air brake systems and the ability to troubleshoot problems with the air valves.
  • Suspension diagnostics relating to air suspension, track bars, leveling valves.
  • Heavy-duty ABS systems diagnostics and repairs.
  • Ability to replace heavy-duty brake rotors, pads, and air disc calipers.
  • Know how to use a digital volt ohm meter (DVOM) usage.
  • Know how to use an Insulation tester for high voltage components.
  • Preferably experienced in heavy-duty EV or Hybrid systems.
  • Preferably experienced with bus door experience.
  • Preferably experienced with bus kneeling systems
  • Preferably experienced with knowledge on Dinex I/O Control systems.
  • Preferably experienced with wheelchair lift and ramp experience.
  • Preferably experienced with knowledge in AC and DC charging systems, both vehicle and chargers.
  • Proficiency in Customer Relational Management systems (CRM).
