Position Summary

We are seeking a Senior Fuel Service Technician to join the team in Charlotte, NC. This senior-level role is responsible for the installation, maintenance, repair, and compliance of fuel dispensing equipment, underground storage tanks (USTs), and related systems across multiple fueling locations. The ideal candidate will serve as a technical lead, ensuring that all fueling systems operate safely, efficiently, and in compliance with environmental and regulatory standards.


Key Responsibilities

Customer Service & Safety

  • Provide professional, customer-facing service while resolving issues quickly and effectively.

  • Prioritize safety and follow all company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.

Technical Maintenance & Repair

  • Perform advanced diagnostics, preventive maintenance, and repairs on fuel dispensers, USTs, leak detection systems, vapor recovery units, tank monitors, and POS systems.

  • Troubleshoot and repair both electronic and mechanical components (e.g., Gilbarco, Veeder-Root monitors, Verifone POS systems).

  • Lead or assist with installation and upgrades of fueling systems and related technology.

  • Respond to high-priority or emergency service calls, including participation in on-call rotation.

Operational Duties

  • Complete and update repair calls within deadlines using a maintenance work order system.

  • Manage and maintain service vehicle, tools, and van inventory.

  • Track non-stock parts and requisitions.

  • Perform factory-authorized modifications per manufacturer specifications.


Requirements

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • Minimum 7 yearsโ€™ experience in fuel system maintenance, repair, and installation in retail, C-store, or commercial environments.

  • 7โ€“10 years of combined electrical/mechanical experience.

  • In-depth knowledge of petroleum systems (USTs, dispensers, leak detection, vapor recovery).

  • Familiarity with Gilbarco, Veeder-Root, Red Jacket, Verifone, and FE Petro systems.

Certifications & Skills

  • Valid driverโ€™s license with insurability.

  • VASC certification and relevant manufacturer certifications preferred.

  • Ability to read schematics and technical manuals.

  • Basic computer and networking knowledge, including POS and IP networking.

  • Strong troubleshooting skills across electrical, mechanical, and computer systems.

  • Ability to work independently, self-directed, and manage daily fieldwork.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift 25 lbs routinely and up to 75โ€“100 lbs occasionally.

  • Walk, bend, stoop, squat, push, pull, and climb as required.

  • Work outdoors in all weather conditions.

  • Ability to climb ladders, use bucket trucks, and work at heights.

  • Must pass drug screening.

  • Full-time, minimum 40 hours per week with daily local travel and on-call availability.
