Job description

If you are interested in becoming a Substitute Teaching, please complete an application online. This posting is for the 2026 - 2027 School Year.  
Once you have successfully completed your online application, please visit or call a school within Nassau County School District and request a Recommendation Form be completed by the principal.  The principal will review your online application, complete the employment verification process and submit the necessary paperwork to the Human Resources Department.  Please be advised that some principals require you to complete an interview before they will complete the recommendation form. The completion of this process is dependent upon the response of your previous employers.  All employment within the last ten (10) years, must be verified or the school may request three (3) reference letters.  Upon the recommendation is received, the Human Resouces Department will contact you via email with the next step to becoming a Substitute Teacher.

Online Teacher Training Course
Once the initial clearances are obtained, you will be required to complete a portion of the online paperwork, the online Substitute Teacher training course and attend an in-person session to turn in required documents and an informational on Absence Management.  Dates of the in-person sessions will be provided when Human Resources inform that they have received the recommendation form.
Education credentials required.  Official College/Univserity transcripts must be received from the college/university or their third-party vendor.  Transcripts can be sent to substitute@nassau.k12.fl.us . When sending in transcripts, we only require transcripts from your highest level conferred degree. 



NOTE: The Substitute Teacher Training Class is mandatory and required by the State of Florida.  This requirement cannot be waived unless you have a valid Florida Teacher Certificate. Â
