South Central College
Mankato Adult Basic Education (ABE), in partnership with South Central College (SCC), is participating in a Pathways to Prosperity grant initiative. We are seeking a K 12 licensed teacher to support an evening Welding program at SCC during the 2026 2027 academic year.
This position will require approximately 3.5 hours per evening, Monday through Thursday. The selected candidate does not need prior welding experience. The SCC instructor will lead all welding instruction.
Summary of Duties:
The ABE teacher's role is to provide academic support that strengthens students' foundational skills necessary for success in the welding program. This includes assisting students with math, blueprint reading, study strategies, note-taking, vocabulary development, academic planning, and computer literacy. The ABE teacher will also facilitate study sessions and provide individualized academic support.
This is a grant-funded, one-year position, with the potential for continuation pending future funding availability.
The ABE teacher should demonstrate:

  • Proficiency in computer literacy
  • Effective study skills and strategies
  • Ability to support adult learners in developing academic confidence and independence

Qualifications Required:
  • Holds a valid Minnesota teaching license in any area K-12
