AI is advancing at an unprecedented pace. By the early 2030s, autonomous, versatile robots are expected to surpass human-level autonomy and versatility in a growing set of industrial tasks. As a result, we anticipate rapid market growth for physical AI solutions and accelerating adoption across manufacturing.
Are you passionate about artificial intelligence and robotics? ABB Robotics is seeking a dynamic and experienced Product Manager for AI Applications to join our Automotive portfolio team. You will play a pivotal role in defining, developing, and launching AI-powered solutions that drive automation and efficiency in industrial environments-especially high-volume automotive manufacturing, where takt time, quality traceability, and zero-defect expectations are critical.
Key Responsibilities
  • Identifies potential gaps in the portfolio, with respect to the competition and new market opportunity(ies) and initiates and drives product market communication strategy, including product launch planning and implementation.
  • Manages different channel to market scenarios in coordination with channel partners and Marketing and Sales teams to ensure the best possible market coverage.
  • Oversees inventory levels and sales volumes on a regular basis to ensure the ability to meet customer orders.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineering, marketing, and sales to deliver cutting-edge solutions.
  • Analyze market trends, customer needs, and competitive landscape to identify new opportunities.
  • Define product requirements and prioritize features based on business value.
  • Manage the product lifecycle from ideation to launch and continuous improvement.
  • Partner with automotive OEMs and Tier-1 suppliers to translate line requirements (cycle time, uptime/OEE, traceability) into scalable AI-enabled robotics product capabilities.
  • Ensure product readiness for automotive production environments, including considerations for IATF 16949-aligned quality processes, validation, and end-to-end data governance for vision/AI models.
  • Drive industrialization with customer plants and integrators, supporting deliverables commonly used in automotive launches (e.g., APQP/PPAP-related documentation, change control, and process capability targets) where applicable.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum 12 years experience in product management.
  • Minimum 2 years experience in Product management for AI products and robotics or research.

Desired Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field.
  • Prior experience delivering automation/AI products for automotive OEMs or Tier-1 suppliers (e.g., body-in-white, paint, powertrain, battery, or final assembly) is a strong plus.
  • Strong understanding of artificial intelligence technologies and their application in industrial automation.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, global environment.
  • Candidates must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US.
