Job description

Job Description:

Develop and train new Production employees during the onboarding process. This includes both classroom and on-the-job training, as well as guidance, coaching, and skill evaluation during employee onboarding. Develop and train Quality Team Leaders (QTLs), Operators, Manufacturing workers, and Production Leaders utilizing AAON's learning methodology and positive leadership practices to motivate and grow employees. Support AAON's quality and continuous improvement culture by implementing measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, production quality and efficiency.Ensure all team members understand and adhere to the AAON Quality Management System. Work with peers and other teams to organize and improve work areas and through put, update and improve documentation and procedures that directly affect quality of AAON products.

Essential Responsibilities:

The following is a list of the essential duties and responsibilities and expectations of the position; however, additional duties may be assigned as required. Duties will vary based on the shift and area assigned.

  • Coordinate and deliver new employee onboarding. Develop training plans for new employees as preparation for work in the production lines.

  • Lead hands-on training across work stations during new employee onboarding. Collaborate with Production Training Specialists to provide needed instruction throughout onboarding program.

  • Conduct skill assessments of new employees at the end of onboarding classes. Provide feedback to new employee supervisors about skill levels achieved during onboarding period. Communicate additional skill development recommendations.

  • Facilitate classroom, small group, and on-the-job training for new and existing team members at AAON's manufacturing facilities. Conducts all computer, part/unit documentation, and quality training used to support production job tasks with a focus on building a quality product.

  • Tracks and reports all completed New Hire and QTL/Production Lead training.

  • Trains team members on proper tool safety and use, assembly best practices, 1st article inspection (if applicable), unit paperwork and sign off requirements.

  • Trains and enforces proper use of PPE.

  • Performs audits of assembly processes and finished product, confirms products built are within compliance with quality procedures and work instructions.

  • Proctors team member assessments to ensure they meet skill qualifications and proficiency requirements.

  • Coaches QTLs and Production Leaders in problem solving, Lean, 6S and Continuous Improvement methods. Recruits potential leadership candidates for QTL and Production Lead positions.

  • Ensures AAON meets all company quality standards for products with on time production and within design specifications.

  • Works with other departments to create and improve production process and quality metrics and support new process implementation. Stays up-to-date on new processes, technologies, and methods applicable to production job tasks.

  • Promotes a positive AAON culture, exemplifying company values.

Minimum Requirements:


High school diploma or equivalency along with completing all required Certified QTL classes. Competent Keyboarding and Computer skills, experience using MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) a plus. 3-5 years of production training experience. Classroom instruction experience required. The individual will have a working knowledge of manufacturing procedures and best practices and/or management experience, or equivalent experience in a similar industry.

Essential Physical Functions:

  • Must be able to stand and sit for extended periods.

  • Must be able to walk unassisted in an industrial environment.

  • Must be able to walk up and down stairs unassisted.

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job the employee will work in a manufacturing facility and regularly exposed to:
