Job description

JOB SUMMARY
A Sandblaster in the Fabrication shop will be responsible for preparing surfaces for painting and working with heavy equipment, grinding tools, and high-pressure media blasting equipment.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBLIITIES
• Operate sandblasting equipment to clean, smooth, and prepare surfaces for painting.
• Remove old paint, rust, scale, and other contaminants from structural steel, piping and vessels
• Prepare work area including taping, sanding, surface prep, and mixing, etc.
• Ensure the correct use of sandblasting media materials.
• Utilize Fresh Air or Full-Face Masks and Tyvek Suits (PPE) to perform duties.
• Read and interpret product data sheets.
• Operate and understand sandblasting equipment.
• Operate a pneumatic DA sander, mixing drill etc.
• Perform surface inspections to identify imperfections and make necessary adjustments.
• Maintain and clean sandblasting equipment regularly.
• Prepare and maintain work areas, ensuring they are clean and free of debris.
• Communicate with supervisors to ensure job requirements and deadlines are met.
• Promote and adhere to company safety protocols and regulations.
• Support and exemplify the company’s mission and values in all interactions.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
• 2+ years previous industrial sandblasting experience or training.
• Experience working with or removing heavy metals a plus.
• Knowledge and experience working with the surface preparation standards SSPC.
• Physical stamina
• Flexible schedule
• Ability to lift and carry materials weighing up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
• Must be able to tolerate frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping, kneeling, and crouching throughout the workday.
• Capability to push, pull, grasp, and reach with hands and arms.
• Ability to operate hand and power tools safely and effectively.
• Must be able to wear and operate the required personal protective equipment (PPE), such as hard hats, safety glasses, and gloves.
