Overview
VTG is seeking a Painter with Sandblasting Experience to work in our Fabrication Shop in Virginia Beach, VA.
What will you do?
Summary Operates sandblasting equipment as well as wet and powder painting equipment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Ensures all items are completed within customer, company and quality procedures and regulations.
  • Studies blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample part to determine surface finish and coatings to be applied on work piece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.
  • Operates sandblasting equipment to clean and prepare surfaces.
  • Turns valves and observes gauges to set pressure and to control flow of paint to each spray station.
  • Prepare fabricated parts for painting application by grinding, sanding, and blasting.
  • Select appropriate blasting media based on material and job requirements.
  • Inspects painted units for runs, sags, and unpainted areas.
  • Readjusts pressure valves to control direction and pattern of spray and to correct flaws in coating.
  • Cleans paint equipment and maintains ceiling and walls of booth, conveyor hooks or grid, and from disks, cones, spray heads, and hoses.
  • Changes filters and booth coat in spray booth.
  • Mixes paint according to specifications with viscometer to regulate consistency according to changes in atmospheric conditions.
  • Mixes and applies filler materials.
  • Operate high-pressured equipment to shoot abrasives to etch, clean, smooth, and/or shape hard surfaces including aluminum and steel.
