(F.A.R.E.) COACH 2nd- 6th Grade

Description:
Facilitate project-based lessons using the F.A.R.E. (Food, Agriculture, Renewable Resources, Environment) Theme. The F.A.R.E. Coach will work with 2nd through 6th-grade students and teachers on various F.A.R.E. lessons and activities as directed by the Administrator and the Academy Board.
Responsibilities:
Curriculum
- Develop/Implement F.A.R.E. theme curriculum units for grades 2-6
- Make connections between grade-level standards and F.A.R.E.-related topics
- Articulate a plan of instruction utilizing food, agriculture, renewable resources, and environmental themes
- Integrate technology throughout the curriculum
- Incorporate hands-on learning
- Develop and use multiple assessment strategies to evaluate student learning
Outreach
- Utilize community resources
- Host a variety of outside presenters
- Work with local community companies and individuals that specialize in F.A.R.E.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, the Middle School F.A.R.E. teacher, and the High School Science Ag. Science teacher
Classroom Management
- Create a classroom curriculum that facilitates instruction
- Establish procedures and classroom rules
- Communicate oral and written administrative action to parents and administrators to provide a warm and inviting atmosphere
- Promote a clean and safe working environment
Communication
- Communicate expectations to students
- Evaluate and communicate student progress to parents regularly
- Communicate volunteer needs to parents
- Make contributions to the Academy newsletters
Leadership
- Provide guidance and direction to staff regularly
- Actively pursue the vision of the Academy as set forth by the Academy Board
Total Learning Environment
- Carry out the policies adopted by the Academy Board as interpreted by the Administrator (examples of Board policies include: dress code policy and code of conduct policy)
- Monitor the safety of all children
- Monitor appropriateness of computer use in accordance with the acceptable use permit
Perform all other duties assigned by the Administrator and/or Academy Board
Required skills and qualifications
- MI Teacher Certification, Out of State Teaching Certification, or the ability to obtain a Teaching Permit, and the ability to pass the MTTC (Michigan Test Teacher Certification)
- Bachelor's Degree with a focus in Science
- Must pass State and Federal criminal background check
Preferred skills and qualifications
- Michigan Certification in Teaching with a Science endorsement
- Certification in first aid and CPR
- Agriculture experience
