Forestar’s vision is to be the nation’s leading residential lot developer. The Company’s strategic relationship with D.R. Horton, the nation’s largest homebuilder, complements Forestar’s vision of creating neighborhoods that enhance the lives of community residents while creating value for shareholders, trade partners and employees.

Forestar Group is currently looking for anLand Acquisitions & Entitlements Director-FG.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Plan, direct and coordinate all land acquisition and entitlement activities
  • Develop and maintain critical business community relationships with the private development community, state and local governmental and quasi-governmental authorities and private engineering firms, and scout other avenues for possible acquisitions
  • Negotiate the acquisition of properties with landowners, attorneys or brokers
  • Prepare land valuation analysis and direct the preparation of complete development budget, including detailed preliminary construction cost estimates
  • Perform detailed review and analysis of entitlement status of prospective acquisitions on a continuous basis, including assessment of due diligence information and documentation
  • Manage due diligence process on land acquisition opportunities and meet all entitlement needs, including initial master planning work in close coordination with land development team
  • Prepare memoranda, other documentation and analytics for corporate approval for land buys
  • Maintain all previously approved land use and development entitlements
  • Update management on acquisition status and issues on a timely basis
  • Provide input on selection of subdivision details for amenities and common areas (landscaping materials, screening walls, etc.)
  • Conducts all business in a professional and ethical manner to serve customers and increase the goodwill and profit of the company
Supervisory Responsibilities

Directly managestwo or more employees in the Operations Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

QualificationsRequired Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university
  • 7-10 years of applicable experience to include at least 5 years of supervisory experience as well as experience in the residential real estate industry
  • Must have a vehicle, a valid driver’s license
  • Proficiency with MS Office and email
Preferred Qualifications
  • Working knowledge in Microsoft Excel and Project is preferred
