Job Description:

The Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) is seeking a compassionate and committed individual to join our team as a Psychologist in our Developmental Disabilities Division. This vital role directly supports our mission of Helping People Live Better Lives.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Testifies at Developmental Disability Court Ordered Custody Hearings and renders judgment as to the person's diagnosis.
  • Provides information to law enforcement as well as legal system officials.
  • May perform psychological evaluations and conduct assessments.
  • Provides psychological services to patients including observation, psychological evaluations, a review of psychological testing results, psychotherapy and treatment plan management.
  • Serves as a consultant to other staff in developing effective psychological treatment programs.
  • Serves as case manager for treatment of patients including a review of progress, revision and coordination of treatment.
  • Provides training to other staff psychologists in the psychological management of patients.
  • Assists in the establishment of psychological services for various psychiatric populations on an as needed basis.

Work Schedule & Flexibility:The training schedule is generally Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The full-time work schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM with some flexibility available. This position may also require participation in an on-call rotation, which includes weeknights, weekends, and holidays.

Wage: Negotiable

Requirements/Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:Must be licensed to practice psychology in the state of Nebraska. A doctoral degree in psychology is required. Licensure as a Psychologist in the State of Nebraska is preferred but may have a provisional license as a Psychologist.

Preferred Qualifications:Experience working with Developmental Disabilities.

Other: Must have a valid driver's license for work-related travel.

Work Environment & Expectations:This position will be officed in either Lincoln, Omaha, or Beatrice, based on candidate preference and office availability. This position will require work-related travel.
