Job Description

Performs psychological/behavioral assessments and psychotherapeutic interventions and other procedures of patients. Conducts research in accordance with IRB guidelines and approvals. 

Job Responsibility

1.Functions as a primary therapist and member of an interdisciplinary team.
2.Provides patient care, individual or group, in accordance with accepted principles of psychotherapy.
3.Selects formal and informal assessment methods appropriate for age, medical condition and functional status to assess patient’s psychological status.
4.Administers psychological assessments and interprets results to determine nature of problem(s) and recommend treatment necessary.
5.Evaluates children to obtain information necessary for planning and intervention in areas of cognition, learning and behavior.
6.Determines appropriate recommendations and treatment for patients evaluated.
7.Presents treatment plan and educates patient, family, and related hospital staff of procedures in a manner consistent with level of understanding.
8.Consults with referring counselors regarding patient progress, and meets with rehabilitation counselors regarding patient placement.
9.Evaluates care provided for positive patient outcomes.
10.Documents patient interventions according to department and hospital policies and procedures.
11.Performs a variety of administrative tasks, including but not limited to correspondence, attending meetings, maintains records and chart.
12.Performs related duties as required. All responsibilities noted here are considered essential functions of the job under the Americans with Disabilities Act. Duties not mentioned here, but considered related are not essential functions.

Job Qualification

PhD or PsyD in Clinical Psychology, required.
Current License to practice as a Psychologist in New York State, required, plus specialized certifications as needed.
1-3 years of relevant experience, required.
