Job description

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Database Developer to support a federal transportation organization focused on infrastructure asset management, bridge inspection programs, and engineering data systems. This position is onsite in Ashburn, VA. The Database Developer will manage enterprise databases and develop, maintain, and enhance mission-critical applications used to collect, store, analyze, and report infrastructure inspection data. Join a team whose work directly supports the safety, maintenance, and long-term reliability of critical transportation infrastructure nationwide.

Responsibilities for the Database Developer include:
  • Design, develop, maintain, and enhance web-based and database-driven applications supporting infrastructure inspection and asset management programs.
  • Administer and support Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, and Microsoft Access environments including installation, patching, upgrades, performance tuning, backup, recovery, and security management.
  • Develop reports, dashboards, data visualizations, and analytical solutions using Power BI, Crystal Reports, SQL queries, and other reporting tools for technical and executive stakeholders.
  • Perform database migrations, data imports/exports, ETL activities, schema management, and data integrity validation across multiple systems and platforms.
  • Provide application support, troubleshooting, documentation, configuration management, and compliance support while collaborating with engineers, inspectors, developers, and IT teams.
Required Qualifications for the Database Developer include:
  • 5+ years of experience in database administration, software development, and enterprise application support.
  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle Database, Microsoft Access, Power BI, SharePoint, ASP.NET MVC, Visual Studio, Python, JavaScript, jQuery, HTML/CSS, XML, JSON, VBA/Macro development, and web application technologies.
  • Strong knowledge of relational database design, object-oriented programming, performance tuning, backup and recovery strategies, database security, and software lifecycle management.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, Database Administration, or a related technical discipline.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
Compensation for the Database Developer include:
  • Salary Range: $90,000 - $100,000 depending on experience
  • Full Benefits Package: PTO, Paid Holidays, Medical, Dental, Vision, 401K, Tuition Reimbursement, Sick Leave as required by law
